Murder 3 Ft Under the sea

I am saddend by the events that unfolded as I awoke about 30 min ago it is the first death in my tank in a very long time and it was not due to tank conditions.

No it is not a molt as I walked out I could tell because the littler of the two was still moving. Yes it is one shrimp killing another.

weird, i have 3 cleaners that have gotten along well for almost a year now. maybe one was weak or dying and the other is finishing it off?

I am not sur I have had them all for a long time and all looked and ate healthy

It may have been sick or something....

I can't see the pic. Although, I had a Cleaner shrimp die recently. I was advised that they only live about 4 years in captivity.

My shrimp just ate one of my crabs...... is this common?!?!?! why would he do that? I thought that the shrimp and crabs get along...

I have seen my cleaner eating one of my hermits. I have only seen the aftermath though, not the actual killing. Since I don't have anything else in my tank that would kill a hermit....

I will be honest, I couldn't tell you why, except maybe that they are oppurtunistic.

Most times, I don't think that there is much interaction between the two.

What kind of crab was it? I could see a pistol or mantis maybe doing something similar.

it was a zebra crab that got killed, i saw it first hand... it was this morning and i turned on the lights as usual... and the shrimp just ran out in the open... turned around, tackled the crab, took him off to the back of the tank where he repeatedly stabbed the inside of the shell untill the crab was so weak he fell out of his shell. the shrimp then continued to eat the crab and this lasted for about 5 minutes and he just threw the crab to the ground and continued on with his day.

it was cool, i almost grabbed my video camera, but it didnt have enough batteries in it.... but yeah, it was sad, i got my LFS to replace him since i just bought him yesterday, THANK YOU!!!! but everything is okay now!

Yes the LFS that i go to is the best, she gives me the best advice, if you ever are in the edmond area, go to her, she is awsome!!! I didnt even ask her to replace the crab, she just offered, i was just going to buy another one and told her that!!
