picked up a piece of rock with some mushrooms on it, this one was sort of hanging off the back side and i have no idea what it is. the picture really doesn't do it justice, the little "bubbles" are florescent orange, very pretty! it's about 1.5" across. it was blowing around in the flow so i attached it with a little glue so a small piece of dead coral that had a "dent" in it, sort of like a little nest.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the rock? Those definitely look like bounce shrooms

i paid $20 for the rock, it had some pretty green and purple mushrooms on it. it was a fairly small rock, i set it on a sort of ledge toward the bottom against the back wall after i removed this particular shroom. of course, my urchin promptly knocked it off the ledge and now it's behind my rock work where i can't even see it! doh!!

IF this is one of those bounce mushrooms, that would be awesome! too bad i live in an area where i know absolutely no other reefers to offer it for sale to. lol

ticked off Ricordea Yuma
Got two just like it, changes color every now and then..Always red mostly..

Got a thread on ID'ing mine here Nina

thanks for the info, james. i read your i.d. thread. when you say "ticked off", do i need to do something to make it happier? right now it's on the sand bed under t5's. i have a couple of shaded areas where i could move it to.

Should be fine where it is,,trying the shadier areas won't hurt,,if it is like mine when it is happy it lays flat and gets thicker

My ric. Florida also get like this when in too much light or flow.

I place them under a shelf, or in the shadow of a larger coral and they return to normal.

This is not a bounce, I have a bounce breeder next door to me, and they are extremely unique. Normal mushrooms with 2-4 huge polyps, usually of a greatly different color. Whilst the rest of the polyps are normal.

All of the polyps in the pic you posted seem to be inflated, meaning they are probably trying to protect themselves.

i moved it so that it is in a semi-shaded area with less flow and it's doing great! it has almost covered the small piece of dead coral i mounted it to. :)
