Ok, I had about 5 mushrooms. Now I am at 200+....

How can I slow the propagation? Does anything eat them? They are everywhere. I have them growing on my clams! Gotta cut back and was looking for a way....

any ideas?

Woh! That's alot! How long does it takes to multiply from 5 to 200+? Can show a photo of your tank? Thanks.

Set a rock atop a cluster of them. They'll migrate to the rock and up it, and then you can sell the rock. Do this repeatedly. I've got a plague of green stripe and purples.

They have had several explosions of growth over the last year. I was just hopin there was a Mushroom Gobblin' Goby....or something.

I finally sold all of my RBTA's... I had one that ultimately gave me eleven after repeated splitting. They are pretty, but I wont have another. They are aggressive with corals....sorry clowns.

Well I'm glad I got one of your RBTA clones when I did!

Thanks again,

Sarah

Camel shrimp will eat them, but they are not safe for other soft corals.

I would try cutting the unwanted ones off and give them away. Then cover the remaining foot that was left on the rock with kalk paste.

I second the rock idea, could probably turn in a rock full of them every other week to your LFS to exchange for food or something.

I second the kalk solution. Sometimes it's a necessary evil to save some other stuff which Im havin a problem myself. If your able to come across a hypodermic needle, make a a thick slurry of kalk and inject them.Works great, and your not having to do alot of scraping and irratating near by stuff. This is also how I combat aiptasia.

I agree, frag and sell.....I'm sure the LFS would take some off you hand along with some of us on this site...Post some pics...

Ill take as many as you want me to,lol.

I agree with the frag and sell, those rics are lice $20-$40 a peice here.

I don't think he has rics, I think he means that he has the green hairy mushrooms.

I have never had too many or too much of anything. Well, maybe with the exception of draft beer on a hot day or potato salad at a picnic, I have never had too many mushrooms. Frag the shrooms you don't want. Heck, I'm jealous. I want some! Trade them to a LFS for store credit or local reefers may want to swap for other corals. I greatly appreciated members of my local reef club (East Tennessee Reef Club) sharing stuff with me when I got started. I'm sure folks in your area would appreciate it and share like wise when they are able.:D
