Mushroom removal

Over the last several months I have seen an explosion of mushrooms in my tank. It is getting to the point where they are starting to affect other corals.

What is the best way to remove these things from the tank? I don't mind a couple but it is starting to get ridiculous.

Good luck. I tried everything from wire brushes to superglue and can't get rid of the blue mushrooms I have though they are well under control.

In my opinion the best way to get rid of them is to remove all the rock with mushrooms and either cook it or replace it. They like xenia and GSP can be very nice in a tank especially when you are first starting but can be extremely bulletproof and burdensome when you move on to other things like SPS or even LPS.

Or you can trade with me for some nice clean rock :D .

Elite I still have that rock with like 40 blue striped mushrooms on it.

I had the same problem in the past, literaly hundreads of mushrooms in my 180. I took out every rock turn it upside down until the shrooms start hanging down, then I use a bone cutter and cut the base of the rock and mushrooms off making sure to remove all the flesh. then I wash the rock off in a clean bucket of walt water and out it back into the tank .... This took several weeks until all of them are eradicated. Now my tank is all SPS with very little mushrooms :D :D

Holy crap, what a pain in the arse!!! I was hoping for a quick solution like some crazy genetically altered Berghia which likes mushrooms instead of aiptasia. Funny thing is I remember when it was cool to have regular mushrooms.

If the rock is small enough I would gladly accept trades for zoas. Although I think two of the biggest problem areas are on the two largest rocks in my tank.

Yes they can be that much of a pain. I literally replaced all of my rockwork but I think 2 pieces that I had thought were free of anything. Sure enough 2 years later guess what is starting to show up again....... blue mushrooms.

BTW when I originally had them in my tank they were on a totally seperate piece of rock nowhere near my main rockwork. Apparantely one or two mush have detached in the flow and found themselves a new resting place.

One mans treasure is another mans nemesis.

While you are messing with the Berghia genetics can you ask for one that will eat bubble algae too?
