Had an old 10 gallon with freshwater setup not in use, so i said what the heck! Imma build me a nano-reef!
Got 96watt PC 50/50 deluxe aqualight, use the crappy old HOB of unknown name with a sack of carbon and a blue filster sponge in the filter area. Used Black calcite media with a black background. Used heater from old freshwater setup and two rio 50 GPH pumps that were lying around to move the current.
I used about 15 Lbs of LR from my existing 90 Gallon display, 150 total system. Also used water from refugium packed with all sorts of little critters. Snagged out 5 or so blue legs and 10 Turbos outts the display and presto! Instant Nano-reef!
Added some Pom om Xenia from the old tank, bought a 3 inch crocea and a Mushroom leather coral, as well as a six line wrasse to start us off.
Shortly i will move some Green rimmed Zooanthids over from big tank, and will get small three headed frogspawn.
Corals on the list for the future are 1) red mushies, 2) blue mushies 3) green star polyps, 4) possibly some black or yellow tubastrea sun polyps.
Here is the pic at about 3 weeks running. Params stay pretty steady. Much easier with everything pre-established from big tank.
Any other coral suggestions? No real room for a brain at this point, but maybe with some re-arranging.
