My 120 gallon upgrade

Well as most of you probably know, I had a horribly scratched acrylic 90 gallon, so when we moved to the new house I sprang for a glass 120 with the same 5 ft long foot print as my previous tank. This way I didnt have to buy a new stand or lights. All though, with this tank being 5" deeper, I am thinking of supplementing my lights with some LED strips just for a little extra umpf. Right now, the tank just has a canister filter and a HOB filter for extra media use until I get an over flow and set up a refugium of rubble rock and chaeto. I also am long over due on purchasing a skimmer, but that is just going to have to wait longer with a baby on the way. I currently have all the sand in a rubber made container until I can rinse it and cycle it separately from the tank as I cannot afford to buy new sand :thumbdown. Unfortunately I lost 3 fish in this move. My blotched filefish, firefish goby, and a six line wrasse that refused to come out of the rock :headwalls: RIP little fishies. Sorry Im such a bad fish mover.

And now for the pictures!

And now for the pictures!

Still havent had a chance to arrange the rock. I pretty much just tossed it in there!

My humble frag rack where most of my sps are being kept until I arrange the rock

This is the best shot I could get of the fish. Of course, they have taken to congregating at the very back of the tank. The Kole tang is brand new. I love him! And of course, my pride and joy, a pair of Gold striped maroon clowns. The male actually hangs out inside that barnacle!

Tested params today and results were as follows:

Mag 1420
Calc 440
Alk barely 8
Ph 8.4
Nitrates .5
Phos 0 but I dont have a very sensitive test so could be more
Salinity 1.024
temp 79'

Im starting a wish list of fish and think I will be getting the following:

2 cleaner wrasses
hippo tang
yellow tang
1 male lyretail anthia and 3 females
psychedelic or red mandarin (after fuge is established)

I need something to eat that freaking cotton candy algae. I have two emerald crabs who wont touch it and had hoped the Kole tang would eat it but he pays no attention to it. Does anyone know if sea hares or any nudi's would eat it? Or maybe a lawnmower blenny. Its taking over...

very nice Lauren

It's great when tanks are new and pristine.... for a couple days

SEA HARE WOULD PROBABLY DO THE TRICK. JUST BE CAREFUL WITH THEM AS THEY CAN RELEASE LOTS OF TOXINS IN THE WATER WHEN THEY DIE. I FOUND THIS REALIZATION THE NIGHT WE CAME HOME FROM THE TANK TOUR LAST MONTH. I WAS DOING MY NORMAL CHECKING EVERYTHING OUT, AND THERE HE WAS SHRIVELED UP AND DEAD SUCKED UP ON A KORALIA 4. OVER HALF MY CORAL ALREADY LOOKED DEAD. BUT AFTER 2 EMERGENCY 50% WATER CHANGES (THAT NIGHT AND NEXT DAY) EVERYTHING CAME BACK AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS... CLOSE CALL THOUGH!!

ooops! ^^^^^^ just noticed caps lock was on... sorry 'bout that.

anyway, green hair algae is starting to come back, but am not sure if i want to risk wiping a whole tank out. I guess it's no different than biopellets or anything like that...

USE WITH CAUTION!

Lookin' sweeet. Mike was telling me about that red fuzzy stuff everywhere, I had no clue in the world what he was trying to describe to me lol. At least it's prettier than green hair algae :P

It is very pretty its just a little too prolific for my taste. I have to siphon it off every 2 weeks or it gets out of control!

Well the air conditioner froze up. Its 90' in the house so I turned off the lights over the tank, opened up the glass cover and have a box fan blowing over the top. Its only 81' in the tank but Im not taking any chances. I just bought a pretty ice blue acro at aquariums today with my last $20.

The frag tank would CERTAINLY hold that safely for you...
provided my ac didn't go out.

Nope, I'm good.
Nice and cool.
Little chilly actually,

Well rub it in why dont ya! Ours is running again, just praying it doesnt freeze up again before the ac guy gets here this afternoon. A piece of insulation had fallen down and was blocking the coils. With that removed, hopefully everything will work, but there may be a freon leak too
