Question for ya guys, and gals! I have two media reactors from BRS to run GFO and carbon. I bought some fittings to where I can run them right off my return pump. Question is, the water coming out of the reactors would go back into my fuge area, which would then go into the return pump area again. In my head it almost defeats the purpose, some of the same water would be going back into the reactors that is just spit out.
Am I making any sense? Would it be ok to run them like this? My other option is to pump water from my fuge section thru the reactors and have it exit in the return, but for that I would need another pump and would not be able to use my return.
The reactors run a slower flow rate then what will actually be returned to the DT. Yes you will have some water that might make it back into the reactors but with the slower rate more likely it'll be pumped back in. The GFO and Carbon don't really need that much flow to work.
I'm going to plumb my return to reactors just to cut cost on power. Running a seperate pump would be ideal, but that's also just one more thing consuming power. Also You don't need to have the reactor inline 24/7. Just whenever you feel as your Phosphates and other nuissance metals/chems are in the system.
