My 170g. 11 Months Update.

could old light bulb be one of the reason why my SPS color fade away slowly and wither away? The growth rate seems to have slowed or stopped all together. could these problem be attributed to old light bulbs?

Nice. iphones are amazing. They take perfect videos & pictures of our tanks.

what are the dimensions? Looks tall.

edit: $60 skimmer. WHAT A STEAL!!!!!!!

Ya, the skimmer was quite cheap. it performs like a dream.

The tank is 60"x25"x30" tall. the height of the tank is one of the reason for 400w bulbs.

Old bulbs can defiantly cause poor colors and slow growth. Make sure your alk, ca and mag stay in check. I see you a doser so I think you have all that covered. Pests can also cause these problems as can high PO4. Your tank is looking good. I want to know where you found a SWC cone skimmer of $60, I will take 3 lol.

hehe it was from Craig's list. it's "like new" condition. The owner asked $100 for the skimmer. I bargain him down to 80. When i was checking out the skimmer, the ventura on the pump broke off. he said he'll sell it to me for 60. I went home and superglued it back to the ventura and it stayed on ever since. hehhehe. The Red Demon works like a dream on the SWC.

You saying larger than what your tank is or what I've stated in my sig? Once I purchase a different house in the summer then I'll have a better idea of what size of tank to build.

the bigger, the better. You should always get the biggest you can afford. Get good stuff right off the bat. I had to do a few upgrades and waste a lot of money in the process.

Understood. I went the cheap route previously and got what I paid for. I go for great quality/performance in any equipment I acquire.
