My 190 gallon build

Those tiles look super snazzy, great thing about the tiny tile it doesn't matter if you change direction (i.e. make a horseshoe rim) you won't see any difference vs. say a solid slab of granite or something similar where you will see a line where the two pieces meet up.

BTW your video seems a bit borked.

Very nice build! Please keep us updated!

One thing I noticed... Does the baffle between the frag section and skimmer section go all the way up to the top of the sump? If it does and the sponge clogs, it's going to cause a flood. If it does go all the way up, my suggestion is to drill a large hole in the baffle so that in case the sponge clogs, the water level will rise and can pour through the hole. IIRC, another member on this forum has a sponge clog and it flooded his stand.

Thanks for the complement. As for the video, I give up. Im not going to make a youtube account and for some reason cant figure out how to post the vid with photobucket.

Thanks, and good looking out1 The baffle actually ends approx 1 " from the top. I actually didn't do that on purpose, but Im glad I did. I would hate to have a flood.

Here are some updated pics. Halide bulbs are starting to burn in. It should be cycled by now. Fish include a Powder Blue, 2 x Hippo's, a Thompson, and a Midas Blenny. Everybody is getting along, and eating well. Next will be a few more fish, then corals. The next update will probably be some time from now.

And a couple of my favorite pieces.
Jelly Bean

Jack O Lantern

My Frags that have been waiting to get planted

I still haven't built the top to cover the lights, and still haven't planted my sps. The SPS are ready to go. They went through a lengthy quarantine, with several dips. Then they sat on my rack for the last couple months, while I think of where to place them. Unfortunately, I'm still thinking.

Just to revive this thread again...

I really like the look of your tank Gecco!! How did the final placement turn out?

Did you ever find any more radiant tangerines?

I have not updated because I have been ashamed of how everything has gone. I lost almost all of my acros, except 1. I lost many other corals, and almost lost them all. I had a horrible algae issue. The last 4 months I have been putting time into the tank, like never before. Time that I should have done from the start. I still have algae, but nothing like before. Fish have been happy, they seem to love algae. Here I am, posting again. I got new wind in my sails, even got some nice frags. Hopefully the next update will be beautiful.

Despite your algae problems, your tank is looking good! I love the rock work, plenty of space for corals and for the fish to swim around. Is it a DSA tank? I think I have the same one.

fish love algae--like it very much

I love this " fish love algae," we humans hate it. lol
I'm starting a crap class tank in my garage purely to grow nuisance algae. So that my tangs can get fat after TTM. crap class tank is acrylic and I scratched it to hell with the miss-use of FLIPPER algae scrapper. One shouldn't leave it in the water after scrapping and lesion learned.
Will post some photos and start a new thread soon. I Love that you said it.
I hope hair algae and other algae that fish eat grows in my new crap class acrylic tank in my garage.

Conor, we do have the same tank. DSA 190. I went to the store to buy a 120, then I saw the 190. It was a no brainer.

Maddhugan, you can just put your tangs in my tank... Ill fatten em up for you. :)

will bring one if you have room. They love algae and I love watching them eat it and kind of get sad when all algae it gone.

I hate to admit it as well but I like having some algae in my tank, even though I have long hair algae. To me it adds a little more natural/life look to my tank that is mainly fish and rock.
