What do you want to keep in it?
We are in talks of him doing a herbie type overflow, but found out it's not really a simple set it once and forget it type method so looking for other options now.
We aren't sure what size pipe to go with yet, but thinking either 1" or 1 1/4'' would be sufficient
Nice setup and I'm digging the pink lol, If going LED make sure it's dimmable. A tank that size I think LED's would be best but for me it would be a good idea if you can squeeze in some T5's for some diffuse light.
He was going to do red and when I saw the pink can I half joked about doing it in pink just cause, well screw it pink is good! Plane then suggested he would do it to donate some of the profits to breast cancer foundations from the corals that would eventually be fragged and sold.Nice setup and I'm digging the pink lol, If going LED make sure it's dimmable. I've used the bean/herbie style overflows on several tanks, and have helped a few others install them as well. In my experience, they are as close to set it and forget it as you can get. I had used several other methods before coming across that style, and I would never consider going back.
The drain pipe size will have a lot to do with what type of overflow you use, and the gph of your return pump. For your reference, I currently run a Mag 18 return with 1" drains, and they easily handle that flow rate with the beananimal method.
I think you'll be in good hands with CrazyEyes' help. Let me know if you need any other help or opinion.
Not sure what you have for plumbing but, I've got some plumbing related stuff leftover that I'll bring over and if you can use it then by all means you can have it. I was going to return it but I've gotten things from Lowes, Home depot and Ace, and trying to figure out what came from where is just not worth it, I'd rather just possibly help someone out.
