My 220 Gallon SPS Dominate Build Thread

I figured for maximum input from the some of the best on this forum as well as a great way to track my progress I would start my thread.
....besides the goal of enjoying a successful SPS aquarium I hope to pick up a few pointers in photography.

Todays pictures were taken with a basic Nikon digital camera, the white balance set on Cloudy. (Man that sounds bad. :)) Photos were warmed up a bit due to the heavy Blue Cast I was getting. Coral colours are real. Or as close as I can get to what I am actually seeing. (Without a doubt, a new camera and lens are in my future)

The aquarium is a 14 year old DAS 3 sided room divider tank, I picked up from a restaurant that went out of business. Overflow leads to a 40 gallon sump with a Mag 950 return pump. Waterflow consists of two TUNZE 6100s and a TUNZE Wavebox. System is dosed with a GHL SA 3 pump doser and water top off handled by a TUNZE Osmolator through a Deltec KM 500 Kalkwasser stirrer.

Progress has been slow and steady over the last year. Coral collection added via Mari Culture and Aqua Culture.

looking good? Have you had the tank for 14 years? It looks really clean for a tank of that age!

No I have not owned the aquarium that long but I have owned it and used it for various things over the last 5 years. It wasn't until last years's March Break that I got to work on setting it up the way I really wanted to.
Would you believe I have always used steel wool to clean glass inside the aquarium?? Super Fine 0000 of course, its like polishing it. There isn't a single scratch.

Love it! Looks great! Nice Slimer there as well. How's the acro's doing on the bottom?

Thank you. It sure adds a lot to the display, doesn't it??

The Acros on the bottom are waiting their turn so to speak. There are so many SPS I would love to add and so few places to put them. So while they wait, they settle in and start to colour up. In the meantime, I have to decide who stays and who goes. With a par of 219 on the bottom it works short term, especially for the coral I thought I bleached out. Turns out I starved them.

Hey Bill....looks great. I gotta come out and see this in real life. Really love the rockwork.

Thank you Darryl. Please do come by. That would be terrific.

Thank you TY.

I really enjoyed seeing your aquarium the other night. I can not believe how many frags and the incredible variety you have in your aquarium. By now you must have one of everything. :)

Very nice set up and stock. Can we get some pictures of the hardware?

Thanks :D
