I have been keeping reef tanks for 4 years now, and I just love the color and enjoyment I get from them. Here are some pictures of my little 24g Aquapod.

Looking good RJ. You eel seems like he's grown quite a bit since I remember seeing him in your 50g. I miss reading you & Amanda's threads. Seems like a dream that you guys ditched your large tanks.

i just added a ghost eel to my 30g. (i remember looking at your 90g. and this tank in its early stages) your tank is an encouragement to me that it is possible to keep an eel in a "nano"
but i do have good biological filtration
the tank looks awesome! keep up the good work
BTW how high do your nitrates run??

Looking really Great RJ ! Your Green Hairy Mushrooms have grown a lot. Glad to see the eel doing so good:)

I have found that my nano does much better doing weekly water changes of 5 gal. I went a while trying to go 3 to 4 weeks and had a green algae battle. Still trying to get things under control. My zoo's started looking bad. Then I changed back to weekly and things are perking up again.
We had a meeting and the guy spoke on tank maintenance and really encouraged doing the weekly upkeep. He even talked about cleaning your sand bed. Taking out some each week and rinsing it clean and putting it back. My sand bed is looking so much better now. I really think for my tank this is a much better routine. Water changes take less time than fighting all the algae I had.

Thanks everyone!

I do a weekly 5g water change on my Nano and my nitrates average around 15-20ppm which isn't bad considering my bioload.

Mary, I don't get any algae really growing at all anymore and the little bit that does come get's eaten by my one turbo snail. (It is possible that I get a bunch of algae, but the Snail eats it all because I never see it or have to clean it.) I do have to clean the coraline algae off of the front and sides once a week, but that is it, no real nuisance algae at all.

Yep, the big tank days are over for a little while till work settles down a bit. I do love my little tank, it is very easy to take care of everything is doing great.

The one thing cool about the full tank shot above, you can see all 7 fish in that full tank picture, which is kind of unusual for the most part.

Great pictures of a very inspirational tank!

Thank you for sharing.

And that's the first time I have ever seen an eel in a cube. I never imagined. I always enjoy seeing well managed cubes. It's amazing what knowledgeable people can do with them.

The nano cube type tanks are great for the smaller types of Eels, they are fully enclosed so the Eels can't get out.

Although, he grabbed on to the feeding stick this past Saturday and wouldn't let go and pulled himself right out of the tank. I had to get a towel to grab him and put him back in, he is to slippery for bare hands, plus I don't want to get bit.

Woah, a sowflake moray in a 24g? Amazing idea. Does he give the other fish any grief? I wasn't so sure one would fit, and I've got a 22g high at the moment....

Actually it is the fish who give the Eel grief, they smack him in the head with there tails when he is hanging there area's of the tank. He could really care less most of the time, but sometimes the fish is very persistant and he will move giving a shake of his head that he is not enjoying it.

I dose AragaMilk about once or twice a week, which you can see by all the coraline algae that my tank is pretty darn healthy I'm thinking. I have not checked the tanks parameter's (except for nitrates) in a few months cause I have been so busy, I think I will do some checks this weekend after my water change on Friday.

I started dosing Purpleup a couple months ago after seeing your impressive coraline growth. I think Purpleup and Aragamilk are the same checmical make up (aragonite)

I love the coloration in your tank. It's so awesome looking. The snowflake has grown since your last post, also. He looks great.

Keep us posted.

I got a huge blue mushroom rock today weighing in at like 11lbs for $40 which I broke apart to put some in my tank and some in my work nano tank. I will post a couple pictures when they open up nicely over the weekend and I have some time to take the pics.

I have have a young snowklake in a 24 gallon nano with no problems. As long as there are no very small fish he can eat, no real issues.

What kind of light do you have on that tank?
I have the Stock 72w PC lighting that comes with the Aquapod.
