My 27 Gallon People Eater Paradise

Well I have some pretty crappy news. Found my beautiful little eel dead today. I thought it was weird that he didn't come out this morning, as he's been super social. Best Thomas and I can guess is that he swam into a powerhead (which he had shown no indication of doing) or he climbed up out of the water and into the overflow, then into the pipes.

I'm pretty sickened right now. He was easily my favorite and I had been waiting so long to get him. This just sucks.

RIP little guy.

Nice! I love his coloring. Kanji just turned three in May. He's a handsome boy, although not always particularly dignified. This may be partially my fault:

He's very photogenic though, and he sings to me every night

Are you sure he's dead? I thought I lost one that way until I broke down the sump and my daughter heard some splashing. She was in the sump for months!

Unless yours got into the pump...

Unfortunately, I am most definitely sure.....I'm pretty sure he found his way into the pump or a powerhead. I found his head behind a rock. He can't even be zombie eel :thumbdown

About time I updated this with some new photos! I've spent the last couple months fighting off an overabundance of very carnivorous amphipods (who ate all the skirts off my PE's), followed by a big algae bloom when we got behind on water changes. Things are starting to return to normal thanks to a very hungry pintail wrasse and a lot of water changes with light feeding, so it's time to celebrate! Thomas and I spent the day testing out the new camera and the Avast marine porthole I got for Christmas. Some of my favorites:

Oh my lord, great zeus these are beautiful!
Congratulations on a comeback success and a fantastic tank which you can now and forever top-off with my envy, instead of RODI water

Thanks guys! I'm just happy to see things starting to pop babies. Makes me look like less of a frag hoarder (even if only a little less)!

Loving it! Nice selection of zoas/palys you have in there. Love the crisp photos of the kitties too. Well done!
