My 28 DeepBlue Build, First LED Experience.

For a long time now I've believed that halides are the best way to grow sps. Due to a move and a new tank, and with the release of the Radion G3 I've decided to give them a go. My inspiration for this tank is Taphil's nanocube Over the past few months I have been gathering equipment and putting it all together and finally its wet! I decided to try my hand at carpentry and built my own stand.Im not so happy with how the door came out so that will change. Also it gets extremely humid under the tank to the point where its dripping down the sides! I will vent it with a fan maybe?
My next problem is my overflow. Ive never had a small drilled one before, t works well but its loud. I used a t with a female adapter and capped it, drilled a hole in the top like a durso. Its really gurgly. Not sure how I'm going to get around it.I put it together with the mindset of SPS only. Only planning on 6 or 7 types...We'll see where that goes... Anyways here it is all filled up. I had a custom adjustable mount made for the radion.Any advise on the noisy overflow would be greatly appreciated.

Equipment list:
28g DeepBlue Rimless (20x20x16)
Eshopps sump
100w Titanium Heater
Mag 7 Return
Bubble Magus Nac 3
Next Reef MR1 shorties x 2
Tunze nano ozmolator
Bubble Magus Triple doser with Vertex Dosing Containers
Vortech MP10
Sea-Swirl
Radion G3

Tank looks great! Hope you like the LED. I've been using them for a few years now and i'll never look at a T5 or MH for my own DT.

I had a very loud overflow when my pump was maxed at 600 gph. Wide open It would suction out and then gurgle. I turned the flow regulator on my pump down about an eight to around 500 gph and the gurgling went away. It isn't comepltey silent but doesn't bother me sleeping ten feet away.

Great build, looks good, I am going to be looking for a new stand here soon. I wish I could build one as nice as that!

I've experienced that once before. It's not completing the siphon because of the hole I drilled in the cap. Just a constant gurgle. I was thinking maybe a hose barb in the hole with a piece of 1/4 " of tubing might quite it, like a bean animal style. I will try to dial the pump down to. I just don't want to lose to much power.

So, a little bit of an update. things seem to be finally settling in. I've taken a few things off the system to include my gfo reactor and i stopped dosing two part for now. Currently just dosing kalk and tank is going strong. It seems like the growth has really started to explode in the past 2 months. I moved and lost a few sticks in the process but everything has recovered well.

I am suffering from a bit of a cyano issue but it seems to be taking care of itself. Just scored a controller over black friday and a sweet frag pack from battlecorals that should be here next week too. Any ways, here are a few recent cell phone pics and one older one for reference. The colors look a little washed out in the cell pics but I'm happy with them, they look pretty deec in person. I'm now a believer that LED's can work. LMK what ya think!

Killer! Love the Feather rock. Tell me about the radion mount. I am acquiring 2 for a cadlights build I am starting. I am getting a pair of lamp trees with my tank but I did not want to buy the complete 100$ a piece tank mounts to the little cross mount things.

awesome piece with the Christmas tree worms.. i saw some of these while diving in Belize

Thanks! The mount is made of 3/4" steel, milled the back out to hide the cord
Is that overflow 4 sided and bulkheaded into place or 3-sided and siliconed in?

Yes it is 4 sided, bulkhead and silicone into place
nice thats a lot packed into a small cabinet
I've thinned it out a bit. Removed the dosing containers, Kalk seems to be working just fine by itself

Thanks, I really like them. I got it off LADD. I bought them to replace this other cool piece I used to have. Hoping to find another one of these days. They're called pagurrita crabs

Can you post the supplies used for the stand.

Sure. I used a pocket jig to attach all the joints. Wanted as much space as possible underneath. It's all made from 3/4" ply with an oak vinear. Then the trim was solid oak.

Love the worm rock, know where I can get some online?

I got mine from divers den, I see them there time to time.
