My 280g Custom upgrade.....

All Endings Have A New Beginning......

All Endings Have A New Beginning......

Our house was officially put up for sale this past Sunday morning, by Tuesday night we had received 2 offers and officially accepted one of them earlier today. So after all of the planning, hard work, frustrations, fun and foul language.....this thread will come to an end. I have already found a buyer for the tank and will start selling relocating corals and selling fish.

But as the title states.....this ending has a new beginning!!!! I've already started planning the new tank and have been getting quotes for a 96x36x30 tank. I am debating on the height and might go with a shallower set up this time around. I will be starting a FS thread for some of my equipment that wont be used on the next tank.

Thank you everyone for following along on what I thought was my final upgrade and hope that you will join me on my next build that will hopefully start in a few months.

WOW!!!

Steve ... Congrats and here's to smooth sailing the rest of the way  !!

Was hoping to see that setup of yours .... guess I'll need to go way south now

Scott

Congrats Steve! I missed it...where did you settle on a moving location?

Also, heading up in your neck of the woods tomorrow. Any stores worth visiting (driving from dc to boston). Planning on hitting Greenwich Aquarium since that's one of the top 3 store displays I've ever seen but figured I'd check with you.

Congrats Steve! Good luck with the move and new tank plans. Let us know when you start that thread. Looks like your new dimensions are the same as what I did so please reach out if you want any input.

Thanks Scott!!! Still a little time to see it before it comes down.

Thanks Roni! We are moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC just outside of Charleston. I would stop off at the Elos Store in Millburn/Shorthills, NJ. They have amazing stuff and its not too far off of I95 so not that far out of the way. Plus one of the northeasts nicest shopping malls is right around the corner if you need to use it as leverage with someone. If you want to go into NYC, theres Manhattan Aquarium on W37th st that has a lot of nice stuff too.

Thanks Doug and congrats to you on the upcoming new addition to the family!!! I will definitely reach out to you about the tank. I am thinking about going with 24" high just to make it easier to do things at the bottom of the tank but I dont know.

96 x 36 x 30 would be great build especially if it ends up being a peninsula. I think the planning is half the fun. I know my brain is going non stop about what I wany to do once I pick up your old tank. I need to read through this build thread for some ideas.

I really want to do it as a peninsula tank but there are other forces that might change that. I am sure you will have just as much fun if not more than I did setting this tank up. Im glad you are getting my tank.

Glad you got everything squared away quickly. Maybe when you are setting up your next tank you'll be ready for leds that have been proven. I've been happy so far and just hung the lights over my tank this weekend!

Thanks Dustin!!!! I cant believe how fast it went and we actually got another offer yesterday so we have a bidding war going on now! I cant wait to see pictures of your tank and how the Orpheks look. I am sure that by the time I am ready for lights there will be a whole new crew of fixtures out. The trends right now seems like some of the manufacturers are now pulling the white leds out and reducing the total wattage of the fixtures. The one thing I always said about my old fixture was that it was too strong and concentrated. One of the things I love about T5's is the even spread of light the bulbs produce. But what I love about the leds is the pop they bring out in the corals. I really like what I have seen on the new ATI fixture because it is a T5 fixture with LEDs rather than LED with T5's. The focus still remains on the T5's and the LEDs come in to provide that extra kick.

Definitely get some new pictures up on your thread about your light.

Couldnt agree more Steve!

Awesome news on the house Steve!

Now hurry up, move and start the new build!

Thanks guys and I couldn't agree more!!!! The reality of it hit me yesterday when I took out my rocks, started catching and watching them leave. My 5 yr old son was pretty upset about it but as soon as I told him that we will have a bigger tank in SC the tears dried up and with a big smile on his face he said..."Really?" Now there's no way I can let my son down so I have to set up another tank and make it bigger. However if you remember my first post, I had to win a bet that involved an AB roller to get this tank. The wife has gotten smarter and this one is going cost me a little for the final approval. It's either going to have to sparkle or have wheels....she wants a golf cart to ride around in down there.

That's how you do it..."but honey, I promised the KIDS!!"

And what about a jewel encrusted golf cart? It would definitely be hers!
