My 28g Nano

premilove

The Empire
Hey, I've been in and out of the hobby for about 4 years now. This is my second jbj nc. Long story short, my 120 sprung a leak, I downgraded to Ia 28g professional LED that I purchased from a fellow member. The tank sat for a few weeks to possibly 2 months. Once I finally got around to setting it up, I get a call from my mother screaming and cursing at me. The bottom seal somehow broke which caused the tank to end up all over my mother's floor. I called JBJ and surprisingly they sent out a new tank to me.

I wasn't really a fan of the stock LEDs. I sold the hood and upgraded to the Ecoxotic panorama pro 24" light fixture. I recently purchased a tunze 9002 and I just got done sawing off the magnet so it will fit into my center chamber. What a pita. Unfortunately I might have cracked the body but I used some weldon to seal it up. Hopefully it works. I'll find out in 22 hours.

Tank-JBJ 28 Gallon AIO

Light: 24" Ecoxotic Panorama Pro. These bad boys are extremely bright. I really like the dim feature. However, Ecoxotic really needs to improve with their customer service.

Filtration- TUNZE 9002 Doc Nano Skimmer

Waterflow- 2 x Maxijet 1200 returns. Just ordered a mp10wes.

Still need to buy:

I plan on purchasing the RGB Panorama Pro LED Module. I've asked around and so far I have been hearing positive reviews. Hopefully they are right!

2 x TLF reactors to run GFO and possibly carbon.

Stocklist: not sure, open to suggestions. I really want a dwarf frogfish/anglerfish.

Corals wise, mainly SPS. I never really kept SPS, I had mostly scans and zoos. Figured I'd give it a try.

Here are a few pics of when I got the replacement filled up with water, rock, and sand.

Thanks for looking!

I have had a JBJ running for about a year now, I found out I have no more room. I love my tank, I went slow and it paid off for me, with alot of help from a local group I belong to. Good luck on your JBJ.

Hey thanks! I'm thinking about upgrading already I forgot how much of a pain it is to have an AIO. Rear chambers are just too small. One of my buddies might be selling his deep blue 2'x2'x2' cube or his 2'x2'x1 lagoon. Tempting....

Tank looks great. Did you use a skimmer?

Well this sucks. I have to get a stand mount and what sucks even more is that I also need the wall mount in order I use this fixture. God I miss having a sump :( still waiting on ecoxotic to send me my equipment.

The tunze is pretty beastly. Don't have anything in this tank except sand and live rock and it still manages to get some garbage out.

No room for both!

Finally got my stand mount. I needed a wall mount plus a stand mount which sucked. Redid my rock layout, added some snails and crabs. Probably will pick up some corals this week (hopefully).

Don't feel alone dude, my old 28gal nc did the same thing..bottom seal broke and it was not cool at all. After 2 months of arguing with jbj they finally replaced the tank...looks like a good set up dude good luck And have fun with it.

hey thanks. i'm not a fan of the customer service of jbj nor ecoxotic. it took them forever to send me my stand mount.

Just mounted everything. Right now the radion is on basic mode. I'm waiting for my dad to get off his laptop so I can mess around with my new light. Sucks ecotech hasn't released live yet since I only use apple products. Is my mp10 too high?

I'm using my old ecoxotics stand mount since it was basically brand new before I made the switch to the radion. It looks alright. Whatever I'm sick of spending money so I will have to deal with it.

another question..for those who have a nc and a tunze 9002, what is your water level in the skimmer? I'm not really getting much skim mate, however my guess is bc of the fact that I have a non existent bioload. Am I wrong?

to other jbj 28 owners, are you using any type of sponge or foam to help catch unwanted particles from the display to the chambers? if so, where? if I used some sort of sponge/foam in the standard heater chamber and the skimmer chamber would it decrease the flow rate from those chambers to the returns potentially overflowing my tank? (i am using maxi jet 1200's)

I Have a intank media basket in my jbj 28g overflow area i love it filter floss is what i use does not block flow at all and its cheap i switch it every week i do a water change. i dont know if that will help you have your skimmer where you would put the media basket.

That was the reason I didn't go with the Tunze skimmer. It would only fit in the place where the media basket goes. I have an In Tank media basket in the middle chamber and am using an Aquamaxx HOB-1 that goes in the far left chamber.
