My 29 gallon biocube build

I figure I might as well make a build thread since it'll be nice to see the progression of my tank. Almost 10 years ago I left the hobby to go to school. Had a 90 gallon that I drilled to for flow using a closed loop system, t5's, modified reef octopus with gutter guard .... Hadn't thought of setting another tank until my buddy gave me a tank to play with. Needed a stand and the closest I found to what fit it was the biocube one. Bought that but after placing the tank on it. It was too shallow for me

so of course best option after that would be what is supposed to go on the stand. So went on Craiglist and found a great deal.

Got a DJ switch, skimmer and other goodies from my same buddy/crack dealer. Then bought an AI prime HD light. Two koralias and tunze ATO

Still playing with the rock. Not sure if I like it yet. I'm sure I'll play with it more

Enjoying where this is going. Keep the updates coming.
How long did it take you to remove the rim?

It didn't take long. Probably 5 minutes to cut notches on either side and slide fishing line underneath it to remove the silicone/adhesive. Cleaning it up took a little longer with a blade to get all the silicone off

What kind of DJ switch did you use- I want to do the same. And where did you put all the wires?

It's an eliminator E107. I cut the tabs off to make it fit and use heavy duty Velcro to keep it up. The cables are routed through the back of the stand. It had done punch out holes which is nice. I need to clean up the wires some. Probably use some sort of plastic loom to clean everything up

Modified the Aquaticlife 115 by extending the hose. Need to see about putting a valve on the airline to be able to adjust it better

Cool. Thanks. Going to do the same. Did you put a light strip up in there, too?

So the tank is looking great but as of late cyano has been a bit of a problem. So I figure I'll do some sort of fuge/media basket combo in chamber 2. I can't see myself spending money on an acrylic container just to hold phosban out whatever else I throw in there. I was thinking of the eggcrate ones I've seen online but I prefer the idea of forcing the water to interact with the media. So I went to Walmart and found some tall pasta Tupperware. Glued two together and hack away

Don't think it's a flow problem with two koralias and a mj900 for the return. The skimmer is also working well so my only guess is that I'm feeding too much. (1/2 cube of frozen mysis daily)
