My 29 gallon tank

Yea, I know. I will eventually get more flow if the Cyano doesnt disappear. My dad doesnt want more electricity by my tank, so Ill just "secretly" upgrade my Q1 1200 to a Q1 4000.

Eh, too much $$. I might consider it. I am really looking to start getting corals, but first I wanna get my clown pair. I am thinking about getting a mushroom as my first coral.

i just got my seio 620 on my 29g.it does give flow but not as much as i thought. My friend who has a few seio's told me because of its larger output it gives a wider range,so the flow is disperst rapidly.Im thinking of getting a 820 or1100 for the other side. Its mostly going to be a sps dominated tank with a few softies. ive got great lighting i want great flo so any suggestions?

I have not been following this thread for about 2 months lol, but cubanheat....i'd say for a 29, get a seio 620 on each end. I got one in my 40 and i love it. I'm just waiting for some cash before i get 2 for my 29. They will be the only flow.

But wide flow like those put out is much better than any other maxi-jet-type flow anyways...those are all focussed and very violent

I've been following your thread since my wife gave me a 30 gallon aquarium a few weeks back (I still haven't even started to set mine up).

I just wanted to thank you for posting such a detailed account of your trials to date with setting up your tank. It really has given me some direction with how to set everything up.

just got my seio 1100 awesome flow in the 29g now.ive got the 620 on 1 side and the 1100 on the otherside.ive got the 1100 on a timer on/off every 15min its working good. Those tunzes are really nice and i like that they are black but for the best bang 4 its buck these seios do the job pretty well.

you can do that mod but the seio is not not a great pumpt and the 20 dollar price difference is worth it

Whats wrong with the silica?? Is it bad in an aesthitic, chemical, or some other way?? Or is it the myth about silicates and nitrates. I have read articles that disprove this.

i think its too fine to be anything but a bed of detritus unless you have a really good sand cleaner crew the fine grade sand gets impacted
