my 30 gal oceanic cube

sorry still getting the hang of this picture posting and my camera sucks but here it is.

Then tank is the 30 gal oceanic cube. It has a drilled back with internal overflow. the sump is a U shaped with refugium all glass(my first attempt so dont laugh.) I have a css 125 skimmer, scwd, Iwaki 20xlt return pump and pfo 250 watt mh running a pheonix 14000k. the light is only 2 hours old so the pictures along with my crappy camera doesnt give the greatest pics.

Let me know what you think. Comments, recommendations or thoughts are all welcome.

If someone knows what kind of macroalge that is let me know. I got it from a local reefer along with the rock, sand, overflow, pump. thanks BJ the tank is practically all your stuff.

thats awesome! did you drill the tank your self? I have athe same tank sitting in my garage and was thinking that I want it drilled but dont know if the bottom pane is tempered or not!?!?

Hi tiger the bottom of the tank is tempered but the sides and back are not. A local reefer here in town did it for me with a 5 dollar bit he bought off ebay. works great just go slow, use water for lubricant and dont apply preassure let the drill bit do the work. thanks I love these cubes.

Very nice! I have the same 30g cube in maple. Is the overflow and sump a DIY or did someone build it for you? Either way, nice job!

anyone gotta link toebay for these bits? I just bought 2 40 gal stretch hex from petco for 40bux apiece and want to drilloneof em. I have always been afraid to drill a tank but for the price i can risk it!

sump was diy. My first time building a tank so ill cross my fingers. the overflow was given to me from a local reefer who tore them out of a old tank. I just cut it and put it in worked out great.

Looks very nice. I have the 37g version of that tank in the same color.

What type of return pump do you have? I noticed that it is an external one.

Great Job Chrishei!!

I really like these 30g cubes. My set up is a lot like yours with the tank drilled and such. I'd be interested in your feedback on the CSS skimmer, I am finding mine to be to tempermental to the water level in the sump. Here is a pic with 15K bulbs.

Thanks,

thanks everyone.
bob, I can only hope my tank turns out that nice. great looking tank. As for the css skimmer the tank is so new and the live rock and sand came from an established tank and theres no bioload at this time so im not really getting any good skim yet. Ill have to let you know when my tank matures if I like it or not.

Theop, the pump is an iwaki 20xlt that was given to me by a local reefer BJ. Really nice guy. The pump puts out an estemated 350+gph according to the head loss calculator. The sqwd really hurt the flow on this pump but it works for now and was one less thing I had to buy. If i were to purchase a pump I would get somthing with a little more umph.

thanks again everyone. chris
