i ordered some parts that will be coming in by thursday. hopefully i can get this guy up and running by then. still debating about which lites to use. also, was wondering about the electrical part.
I been thinking of creating my own powerstrip but utilizing the gfi outlets. my question is... if the main connection to the wall is not a gfi would my gfi powerstrip even work???

A: Yep. In fact it's recommended to NOT put two GFCI's one after the other.

ok so i got the back partition glued down and water tested today. i know its not the best glue job but it works great so far.

Also got the canopy skeleton built. it hangs into the tank a little bit (3/8) or so. Should i trim it back to be flushed to the top???

ok, today i there was a woman in a brown shirt that brought me my toys...

my return pump, salt and handy dandy picker upper dealio. i'm in the process of testing my return pump and overflow right now. it seems to be working well but im running it over night just to check. it has plenty of flow for my tank. 1k gph. i don't think im going to be needing that extra PH i ordered. but its good to have in case this pump breaks and i need something for flow.

hopefully tomorrow will be a good day and i can put everything into this tank from my 24 gal. i've got 10 gals of salt mixing but i dont think it will be enough.

i'm debating if i should wait till sat. to go get the some parts from YR w/ the 20% off or just go get the parts tomorrow. humm. decision decisions...

btw, how do you guys like the locline angle hoses??? i'm debating if i should get them so i can direct the flow or just put the 1" outlet into the display. Also if someone knows where i can get Black or gray PVC that be great. I'm looking for a 90 degree in 1" or 3/4"

Gray PVC is usually found in electrical. But I'm not sure if it's rated for water use.
It "may" release some stuff into the water.

I really wish i would have put a wet dry into my tank before i set it up like you did. The glue job doesn't look bad, and it won't be seen so no worries. Good job all around!

I would trim the canopy to fit around the tanks perimeter so that it will be less likely to fall off.

ok, i got everything moved over to the new tank this morning. man it took forever and dang was i scared of things not making it. So far everything looks good. Tested the water and paramaters are in stable condition. Ammonia is just detectable and everything else is 0. Here are some pics of the new setup.
any comments and feedback are welcome... i'd like to add maybe a bigger piece of LR so i can raise the SPS section higher but i think that is about all the LR i'm going to have.

its a 250w MH retro with the hamilton 10k se bulb. i'm thinking some actinic would help but that is later down the road. i just wanted to get it up and running.

funman: are you talking about the superman or the spiderman? I've got one of each but one's a monti and the other is a leptestra.

xia: yeap, i tossed everything in this morning, i made up 15 gals of water but i guess that i needed more so mixed up another 5 and let it run for just 2 hrs then tossed it in. worked like a champ! well i might have gotten lucky on this one. the funny part is i forgot to take the yellow foil off the reflector till my wife said that it looked ugly being that it's yellow. I was like Sh**... but lucky there wasn't much that happend that a bit of elbow grease wouldn't fix.
as far as the chromis, i was up at YR and they had a sale so i decided to just get it now and not have to travel up there again + the 20% off... I'm still working on the canopy and stand...
there are many designs flowing through the brain but yet to decide. i need to get it done by this week though. Any suggestions from anyone would be great. I'm not sure which kind of wood to use or thickness. So toss in any info and i'll chk it out.

thats the spiderman leptestrea, i got that from Sam. its a nice piece, i like it, really blue and fluffy. i've seen different variants of them, some with a lighter blue.

Tank is looking really good. If you don't want to add actinics, you could always go with a 20k bulb.
