My 500G Osama Reef-2

Cotton candy? remove it, yank it, chuck it, don't even try to put it in the display tank.

Had an issue with that some years back, while I won't lie and say there wasn't any nutrient issues, the issues that it did have is that it loved to get tangled up on acropora and other "sticks" then would grow while caught on and choke out the coral.

sfs (Mike): Agreed: No feeding it in the DT.. I think Id better play it safe and not put it in my DT. Plenty of rocks & caves and and .. that I wont be able to reach to clean out by hand from DT.

Hey Osama...did he show?
Matt showed last Tu but not today, Said, he had an emergency in Barrington and was to stop by my place later in the day today but he could not make it . Expect him day after tomorrow on TH. I cannot wait, lots of work yet to finish and leaking equipment and bubbles that needs his attention...

Coming Along Nicely

Coming Along Nicely

Here is how the tank looks on the Family Room side that was done yesterday (Th). Painting all White to follow. I kind of like the brown inside the individual panels and white perimeter. FR is paneled in brown panels also... But Installer cannot do. I & wife will have to do later... Looks neat on both sides now. Next Tuesday:::Painting, tackling bubbles in the display tank and installing a fan to exhaust to garage. I hope we can manage the bubbles without having to resort to socks on the discharge from the skimmer. This is our installer's next challenge that he is addressing and trying... Will report on progress as we move along.. We are extremely happy with the looks. Now work is on fine tuning the performance of the equipment.
Getting several corals & frags also this weekended ..

Our Children voted for us to keep the tank All White so as not to distract from the tank itself... So white it is...

I like all white as well. I have a very similar tank about done with white wood trim, cabinets, doors very similar to yours. Carpenter should be out early next week to finish it off...as soon as it is I'll share my pics with you. In fact your tank kind of inspired his work!!!

Looking forward to seeing your tank and sharing your pics... Our adult children voted for the all white so all white it is... Both wife & I like the tank look very much... The system needs fine tuning which will be next after the tank frame is done, most likely this coming Tuesday. Expect more pic from me as well. Good Luck and pls keep me posted and thanks for your interest in our tank as well

It is good to finally see things coming along great. I agree with the children, all white will set this tank off well. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Wayne, it has been a long time coming about ten month & counting, but wife & I and family all love the tank finished look. We'll keep all informed about our progress. It is surprising how much heat the enclosure traps and impacts the tank. Next week we get the exhaust fan in place, exhausting to the garage. I enjoyed your video of the frags. I am going thru same of purchasing frags and full colonies, takes a lot to populate such a tank as you are experiencing!!

How is the casework going to be painted and with what? I would think there's risk doing it around a stocked tank.

My installer is doing the work. He is an experienced long time Fish & Corals person. I am assuming that he will brush paint the surfaces. I believe most surfaces (doors & removable bottom panels) will be done in the garage.. Remaining trim will have to be done in place. Hopefully everything will be OK. I just loaded the tank with about thirty frags & colonies plus whatever was already in the tank . Maybe he will turn off most or some of the sumps. We'll advise after Tu. Thanks for the :; be careful question... Unfortunately I do not have the answer myself

In my new system of 500 g plus three by 65 g for a total of almost 700 gallons, our installer has provided a separate pump for the skimmer, A diablo DC10500 and it is setup at the lowest speed/flow level of the six available levels. Due to excessive bubbles in the DT the installer placed today a valve on the inlet to the skimmer to cut down on the flow back into the sump from the skimmer which seems to be the primary source of the bubbles. Not sure if this will help of not (will determine that in a day or two) My question do I have adequate flow for a 700g system for proper amount of skimming??? Any advise is appreciated

LOOKING AT IT THIS AM WITH A FRESH SET OF EYES: I believe the valve is on the return from the sump, not on the supply side. Is this OK for the performance of the skimmer & the system is all good?

Hope this works as I am not good at taking videos let alone posting them.. Here goes.. Let me know what you think, that is if anything gets embedded successfully::: Pls excuse us for the extensive bubbles, Installer is trying very hard to eliminate and they are noticeable in this video. Pls excuse the looks in the fish closet as it is work in progress. We are adding exhaust fan, adjusting skimmer, organizing all the electrical, may need some shelving. Will post another video when all is done in three weeks or so...

I see two movies on your photobucket page. Both of them require me to log in. This suggests to me that you must change the permissions on both files to make them publicly accessible.

OK Dave Thanks My first video posting. Both videos are basically the same!!! I will see how to make them public and thanks. If I am unable I will get back here for your help.

My photobucket folder is labeled public so I must not have copied and pasted the correct code. Any Help is appreciated THANKS

I am getting to your page but the movie is not loading. I will wait to see if someone else can get it in case it is just me. I can see the stills just fine. That may mean that I am kissing a codec or something equally bizarre.
