Well the stand is done. Instead of 2x6's for the upper, we used 2x10's. I also changed my mind about the 1 vertical in the middle of the 8' length and went with 2 on both sides. We also used 2 inner 2x4's and 3 outer 2x4's on EACH corner. The other 4 verticals were doubled up 2x4's. I honestly don't think this thing is going anywhere but am looking forward to feedback. And rather than screws that might not last, we used stainless steel screws and glued everything. PITA, but made me feel better. ;)

looks great. I would put in some cross bracing especially if you plan on any type of wave action!
Seeing your using those vortex if you put those on any sort of pulse mode it will cause motion so you will really want some cross bracing!

well in that case you will need bracing :lolspin:
you still planning on building everything first then skinning once everything is done?
I thought you wanted to make the stand in sections so if you moved you could take it with you without cutting it up?

Some redneck. He used 2x10's like an idiot...they have like half the strength of 1x2's. This thing is gonna fall over for sure!

Was it that redneck from South Nashville, TN?? I cannot stand that guy... I bet he had a few drinks while doing it, huh? Hope you have insurance :)

Yes, that was him. He had MORE than a few drinks. We had to go buy MORE wood even though we bought extra cus he couldn't cut straight with all the booze in him. He actually missed an AA meeting just to build this. LOL

He's a nice guy though. ;)
