My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

While the hotspot is not a good thing I think it's good that it moves, you wouldn't want any coral under that kind of direct light all day, the ROS would destroy their tissues.

We have coral!!!:rollface::rollface::dance::dance::bounce3::bounce3:
You're gonna make me drive to Phoenix man.

About 5 weeks left on the fallow period right?

A fearless build! Enjoyed the ride tonight picture surfing. Will be tagging along.

Oh, I'm a Wildcat now living in Texas. Looks like you Cal guys will be getting a break every other year. Personally I think conference realignment sux. Go Cats!

I now have most of my current corals in the display. Here are a few pictures to share, sorry for the poor quality. Someday I will stop working on this tank and learn to use my camera.

Hey, that looks like the zoa that hybridized in my tank!!! Do you know the lineage? I had split the colony off into two groups of about 30 zoas each and auctioned them off at my tank breakdown firesale at the last PROP auction I attended 1 year ago. I was hoping these would survive and spread to others. I had named these "Steamed Mantis":

Excellent build! How much Ca and Alk are you dosing per day?

Im at about 225ml a day right now. Alk is at 8.6 and Ca is at 360. Still have some tuning to do.

a fantastic assortment of corals , spacing and fish...keep the open-water mindset

Just getting started :)

Ryan,

Luv this thread! Very inspirational!

Jim

Thanks

what type of leds are you going to put over this tank?

No LEDs yet. I'm not having any heat issues with the halides and solor tube mix and I like the look so much I will stay with that for a while. I'm going to add 2 more 400's in the next few weeks. I'm going to see where LEDs are in about 6-8 months and maybe try a few over the frag tank. I would like to go all LED but as of right now there is too much uncertainity with them and I just dont like the look as much as MH. Hopefully that will change soon!
