My 6100 stopped

Roger, today I noticed that my 7095 was all dark. I felt the puck for my 6100 and it was burning hot. I plugged in a different puck to my driver and the lights went back on my controller, however the pump itself would not activate. I also tried running it alone wothout controller with no luck.

I plugged in a different 6100 to my controller and it is functioning, so it does not appear to be a controller issue.

When I plug in the bad 6100 it feels like it wants to go, but the prop spins and stops instantly. Any ideas?

As best as I can diagnose without seeing it, your driver has died (aluminum box), this has created a short which has killed the power supply, if the motor is still good, we may be able to repair what you have. I would send it in-

Be sure to include a note with your return address and phone number.

Got it yesterday and I will work on it today and call this afternoon with an estimate.

Roger, I hooked it back up a few days ago. This morning the driver was sounding an alarm and the pump is not working again. Any idea?

James,

If it is truly dead so soon I would credit what you paid for the repair to a new pump. I would however check that the drive unit (propeller assembly) is OK. A common issue is the bushing 3000.620 slides forward on a dry start/ first start and hangs up the propeller. Just pushing this back in may be all that is required.

Roger, I have to keep re-seating the propeller. I must need a new one. Can you just post proper part number(s). Thanks

6100.700 is the current version since 2006, it may look different from what you have but will retrofit any 6000 or 6100. It will include the upper bearing and bushing and you should replace all included parts. You can order these from Salty Critter, Tunze.com or Premium Aquatics.
