My 65G Shallow Reef Tank

Wow
Those are not frags, those are huge colonies !!!!

Thanks. Corals grow very fast in my tank. For this reason, I go through deforestation process annually.

Wow!
That coral before fragging was absolutely massive!
One of the largest colonies I’ve seen in a hobbyist’s aquarium that’s not thousands of gallons. Very impressive!!

I’m glad everything is continuing to do well for your tank and corals, it’s all so inspiring to look at!

Thanks for your compliment. I appreciate it. I was going to let it grow further, but it started to cast too much shadow over my precise A. sarmentosa colony not to mention the sunrise millepora.

Bulent your tank and coral choices have deeply influenced the amount of acros I put in my display. I love how big your corals have gotten. I am striving for coral like yours one day!

Brandon, that's a huge compliment. I really thank you for that. You have a fantastic selection of frags. I wish I had them. I have no doubt most of them will reach maturity. I would use a careful selection of a handful of corals and place them quite far away from each other, so that they will grow unimpeded from adjacent corals, thus avoiding coral warfare, which may affect their growth rate. Some reefers prefer a lot of corals in a small place. I guess majority of them fall in this category. Who can criticise them as the real reef looks like that. To the contrary, I prefer huge colonies in much smaller numbers and aim to create that crowded appearance by their size as opposed to their numbers.

WOW! That microclados is healing FAST!
Very interested to see how that granulosa does under the bright light.

Looking great and growing well. Enjoy your pics each time you post. I need to read your thread frome the being, I skimmed it first time. That bleaching looks kind of cool, pastel colour.

Thanks a lot.

In a few days, most photos, if not all, will sadly be inaccessible.

You can still save pics by moving them to another source and edit them back in. It's time consuming but can be done.

I didn't replace most of mine because I had no warning. Most pics were old enough where I didn't know which pic was originally posted to put them back in.

Since you can still view your pics you can see what to replace.

I have got the original copies of my photos on my iMac. Why do I need to download lower resolution versions again?

References to photobucket photos in my tank thread also include the file name, which I can trace from my Photos application installed on my machine.

Am I missing something?

I use flicker now and it's easy to download multiple pics from your folder. When you upload photos from your computer just click each picture and hold down your "control" button on your key pad. It will highlight each one you pick and download them altogether to your flicker account.

I didn't go from PB to another account. I loaded flicker from my computer. My original photos aren't compressed, so they are the best copies I have...........better than what's on PB.

Thanks Ed.

I use FlickR too. I have already converted quite a lot of my old photobucket photos to FlickR. I may continue to do so after my Photobucket account is converted back to "normal" account midnight tonight.

Sure, just remember you won't have any reference to your photos once PB cuts you off. You have to remember or go by your labels you typed in on your thread.

I did not know that, Ed. But it still won't matter. The reference to a photo like the one shown below will still be in my tank thread though, won't it?

All I will need is the photo ID, which was used by photobucket as part of its reference. Once I have this ID, I can trace it in my Photos application on my iMac without having to set my foot to Photobucket ever again.

I went back to my thread and hit edit................I see what you mean now. Yeah, I guess that will work.

Let me know how it works out for you.

I received the following email from Photobucket this afternoon:

"Uh-oh! Your Photobucket Plus subscription has expired. Your account has reverted to Free status. Simply renew your Plus subscription to enjoy extra storage, an ad free experience and unlimited bandwidth."

My understanding is that under Free status image hosting is not allowed. How come I can still see my photos stored in photobucket in my thread? I find it puzzling. May be Photobucket does mean that they say.

Because you are/were a plus member, this is your grace period allowing you to renew your plus status. If you renew nothing, your links will be cancelled. If you just renew your plus and not upgrade to the $400/yr package which allows third party hosting, your links will continue to work until the end of 2018.
After dec. 2018, plus status won’t cut it anymore. You’ll have to upgrade or lose the links.
This is exactly where I am. I renewed my plus so my links will work for one more year but after that, it’s all gone.... unless I decide to pay the $400, which I probably won’t since through tapatalk I can post all links directly from my phone or computer’s photo collection without the use of a photo hosting site.

I bought myself an early Christmas present in the form of marine fish. I collected three P. flavoguttatus and four P. evansi from my local shop. They brought much needed liveliness to my tank. These additions will no doubt add pressure on my filtration, but my Acroporids seem to be growing at a much faster pace than ever before. Did someone say phosphates impede on coral growth and calcification? I guess this is very true when phosphate concentration reaches at a very high level, but at depleted levels of phosphorus one can struggle to grow Acroporids.

Here are some photos:
