MY 75 Gallon RR project and soon to be "former setup" DIAL UP BEWARE!

Is that Jason from the LFS.....looks like he's lost a few lb's

Wrong Jason. This one works with me  This Jason knows the other Jason. This Jason also frequents these boards, unlike the LFS Jason.

opie- half the fun in watching a BB tank is seeing what organisms are under a rock! I've seen tunicates, feather dusters, fish, brittle stars etc under the rock work! It's a completely different world down there, given the detritus gets siphoned ever so often :)

left side by the overflow (don't mind the retard's reflection since it was a tight corner)

FTS- I'm having trouble taking a FTS since it's a foot longer than the other tank!

left again. I couldn't take any of the right, a 75 gallon tank "complete setup in South Jersey" was there

What best part, adding the sand and the LPS corals? :eek2: :eek1:

I like the left side but the right side of the tank looks completely unmatched with the left you need to work on it some more.:p

The right side is going to house Zoos, Ricordea, mushrooms and acans on the bottom. The Top is going to hold my efflo!

don't like? why?
It doesn't have to be Feung-Shoi or whatever my chinese friend calls it.

The left side have fuller look to it the right side only have one pillar all by it self. maybe a smaller pillar right next to it . or one more rock needed in the right side to make it look more fuller . Just my thing if you like it that is  Maybe a arch between the right pillar and the center .

That looks great Merv!
how are the doors coming along?

Someone is finishing up sanding the doors, as I have no garage and its cooooooold outside. I gotta keep buggin' him.

Durso not big enough!

Durso not big enough!

The Durso I made was a very tight fit for the overflow box. Due to the right angle of the intake pipe, it made it very difficult to use a 1 1/4 inch pipe, so I needed to restrict the opening by shoving a 45 degree 1" elbow, impeding its flow.

I was getting slight gurgling noises which didn't bother the fiancee, but bothered me. I've never made a standpipe before, so off to the internet I went and looked at a few diagrams.

The stockman standpipe was perfect for my application because of the restrictive opening above my overflow box due to the Eurobrace.

WIth the new design standpipe, I was able to utilize a full 1.25 inch return pipe, and is completely quiet. I think I'm gonna use this from now on. Durso's out, Stockman, in!

The completed stand pipe

Broken down in sections to accomodate removal for cleaning.

The interior. A 1.5" to 1.25" reducer was flipped upside down and inserted under a 1.5 inch X 2.5 inch PVC pipe (the bell looking thingy). I had to dremel out the flanges so I could make them fit.
I then used a 1.25" plug that had a center thread to accomodate the barbed fitting. The bell pipe thing was extended by simply gluing a piece of 2.5" coupler to it. Sanded on the edges and smothered with glue for better adhesion.

A piece of 1.25" tubing was drilled with a paddle bit to make sort of a sieve. I think I have OCD!!!

Here is the determined height I chose. If it's too low, the overflow water cascades down and gurgkes as well. This is a good time to adjust the height of the return. IT WILL GURGLE when left like this! That's what the bell is for....

Make sure that the holes are above the bottom of the bell.

An the finished and installed product!

Excellent........ Looks good i got to make mine like that one day.
Is the top barb for air in adjustment?

Tank is filled!

Tank is filled!

After working for almost 14 hours on the tank, I would have to say I am pooped. I hope I don't have
to do this again...... Sprained neck muscles didn't help either today as one lucky person took home the original tank.
For some reason, I kinda miss it already.

Here's a semi-finished pic of the tank. I still need to sell more frags to clear the real estate I intended for the tank itself.

So here is a blurry, cloudy picture since my hands are still wet from dunking in the tank:

EH.... still waiting for the water to clear :)

so for now, enjoy these few pics I took of the corals from the top down
while being held in the holding tank prior the transfer.

Enjoy!

Nice pics dude!

I just finished fighting with a giant mexican turbo to get it out of my overflow for about 2 hours *phew*
I will have to change my design to this when I have some time on a weekend so things can be fished out a lot easier!
