I'm gonna have a soft U bend in the return hose since it's pliable. I tested something similar in a friend's tank, less turbulence in the down pipe. Rear is fine I have plans for the front anyways
Worked on the hood last night finishing up on the Ventilation....
After cutting the holes with a dremel, I cleaned up the edges and then placed Felt pads for the corners to hopefully help with the damping. I don't want my hood to act like a guitar.... Vibrating fans will get amplified.... The wire ends were hard wired to a 2 amp 12 Volt AC/DC adapter. The fans are only 0.5amps each, so I could technically throw two more up.
I'll see how these two work for now since it will be an open back.
Here it is resting in the stand! Awesome workmanship on this beautiful thing.... what more can one ask for?!?!?
The sump was not predrilled, as I was unsure on the pump location. It took less than a minute to drill the hole with a hole saw. Got it lined up perfectly!
Pump prep- I used left over 2X3 to elevate the pump in case of an in-tank flood. Don't wanna get the pump wet!
Pump dampers.... to hopefully prevent pump noise. I used rubber plugs, drilled in the middle for the screw to go through. and then I placed a grommet and then washer, so there is no metal-to-metal or metal-to-wood contact.
Close up
Pump installed
materials list for the plugs, washers, screws, grommets- under $4.... the cheapest hardware store trip ever!
Thanks Marcelo, I'm trying to keep the work going, but I pulled a muscle on my left lower abdomen. I really think I got it helping lift this thing up my stairs.... I thought it was a hernia, but the doc said no.
What's the point of finishing the plumbing if you're not gonna do a wet test at 2 in the morning?!?!?
I LOVE the bubble box.
The soft hose is temporary. There will be a coupler and hard PVC later on tonight when I get the coupler thingy. Makes breaking down that part of the sump for maintainance easier.
All the wiring is done for the lights..... I test fired the actinics one last time. The next time they're on, hopefully it'll be where the tank needs to be!
Due to my slightly incapacitated state, I was trying to figure a way to make hauling water easier. After walking around Lowes and HD for a little while, I noticed a shop vac- Duh. why didn't I think of that sooner?
I guess this is what you can call my "mobile home"
