My 75 Gallon Tank

As I got home from work, I realized my fish had a white spot on its eye. Just exactly like an ich spot but only on the eye and nowhere else. What do you think it is and what do I do? The fish is in QT already, what other steps should I take?
 
It may not be ich, try to get a picture of it. As far as the tank is concerned I doubt the fish was able to drop anything into the tank that would cause it to be 'infected'. I suggest leaving the fish in the QT for at least two weeks, and lower salinity. As far as the display business as usual.
 
ok the spot today doesn't look as defined as yesterday.
Yesterday it looked like an ich spot but today it looks like the spot got bigger but faded. There is no way I can get a pic of it because the fish acting normal and is too quick

My fish is doing great and its eye has cleared up. I guess it really was some sort of scarring...
On another note, I did a water change today and I wasn't sure of how much water to change. I have a 75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. Also, for how long should I have the salt mixed before it goes in the tank?
 
can you give me and others some info on the tank? who's it made by? what do you call it when you have a chamber in there with it? drilled?? what pumps are you using, etc.

Why 1 week? I get 24 hours or even two days, but what benefit comes from 7?
 
I'm experiencing that "ocean" smell that is unpleasant. Will adding carbon take care of that? If so, what do I place the carbon in?

well after doing some research I get the feeling that some use it and some don't. The people who do use it, use it for a short period of time every once in a while. Any recommendations?
 
Im not sure what ocean smell your talking about I have never read it from apart from this thread and never seen it first hand. Not sure what it is so not sure how to approach it.
 
I don't know how to describe but I'm sure you've smelled it somewhere before. It's that "fishy" smell......
I know carbon removes odors but I'm not sure if it's a good idea in a reef tank because of the mixed reactions.
