My 90 - first "real" reef - Pic Thread

Here is a photo update. I really have not had time to do very much with my tank since adding the new base rock. I am really loving how it is looking now though:

Hey Warboc...can u give us an update on the fish you got in the tank? how many? which ones? any issues ?

3 pajama cardinals
2 blue/green reef chromis
six-line wrasse
sailfin tang
true percula clownfish
scooter blenny
lawnmower blenny
orange diamond watchman goby
yellow watchman goby

(braces self for overstocked comments)

Mostly small territorial fish. Short of the chromis going after one another, there is no aggresion at all in the tank. The pajama cardinals have a pecking order amongst themselves as well.

The yellow goby goes and stays in whatever current cave the orange goby has made. They are often side by side in entrance.

The two blennies sometimes follow one another around. Mostly the lawnmover following the scooter out of curiosity. The scooter is oblivious to it though as well as to anything else in tank.

I am eventually going to give the sailfin tang away to a friend who is getting a new 140 gallon Oceanic tank going. I'll wait 6 to 8 months though. I will likely replace it with a small purple tang at that time. Also, in a year or so I will try a mandarin.

wow....that's 12 fish.

My 90g has:
Yellow Tang - 4"
Blue Tang - 2"
False Percula - 3"
2 chromis = 1"
royal gramma- 3"

I am tempted to add more fish but i was worried about the bio-load...hae you had any issues with keeping that many fish in there? I am hoping you can give me some confidence with adding more fish - because i have been hesitant to do so :(

i believe open brains should be on the sand and not on the rocks, not 100% sure though

tank is lookin good though

After a while of not doing much of anything with my tank, I am going to add a couple frags or corals to it. Hopefully in the lower right portion.

Here's a current picture of the tank:

Lets see if anyone who was tagging along to this thread months ago is still around.....

Seeing the progression in a series of photos really amazes me. I certainly did not think I would be able to have any amount of success with my tank because it intimidated me to no end when I was setting it up!!

glad to see all of them are alive...you've inspired me to add fish to my 90g :)

I lost a reef chromis or two.. and my yellow watchman goby.. The rest of the fish are still thriving..

9:00pm - Side View... One of the many things about a reef tank that amazes me is that the corals have their own little sense of time. Some corals are starting to close for the night; bubble coral and xenia are most obvious:
