my 90g braceless build

I recieved my tracking number today for sch flex pvc, the last missing component before I put water in the tank and test out the plumbing. I am still working out some kinks on which drain will feed what and so on but I have a general idea...I did decide to paint the inside of the stand and it looks awesome! Im really glad I did it...I just wish I hadnt layed epoxy in the joints cause as you can see the paint didnt take that well in those areas

heres a few pics with most of the equipment in place

made room for 2" plumbing

its kind of tight in there but not as bad as I thought it would be 8)

Now that it is on its way I wanted to ask your opinoins on how to run the flow through my closed loop. I really want to maximize the water movement through the tank and use the best application for making chaotic and random water movement but still try to get the wave affect. My ocean motion is a version two so it will run both 1 and 3 then 2 and 4 and repeat. So would you run both top returns then both bottom retuns or would you run both left (one top and one bottom) then both right? Or finally the option of running top left with bottom right and vise versa?

thanks again, Ill try to get a shot tonight!

in the mean time I started a prop/qt tank. Got it up and running two nights ago...both fish and corals will start their stay with me in this little 15g. It has a emperor for carbon and added water movement, aqua c for skimming and two seio 620's. The lighting consists of a ic 250 ballast with a DE pendant housing a pheonix 14k. Constructed the hanging system out of 1/2" pvc and it seems to hold pretty good.

now I just need to plumb my 4 way :)

Not sure if this is going to help or not for your plumbing but I am in the process of setting up a 36*24*24 and was told by several people to NOT run your drain into your fuge...This causes way to much poop and other fun stuff the skimmer is supposed to take out of your system to get into your fuge....I was told to run a T from my return pump and have a low flow amount of water going into the fuge then back into the system. Im not sure if this is how you are going to plumb it but thought I would mention it

thanks for the input...thats actually a pretty good idea cause it would cause almost a recirc action and get some of the return water another run through the fuge!! thanks again

Wouldn't a T from your return pump reduce alot of the power from that pump? ya know, reducing that force to make it up your your return bulkhead.

ALSO...someone please chime in on the plumbing question about the OM4-way.

I am in the same predicament.

hey shivvy, I here what your saying about the return pump being weakened...based on the fact that my return is only a qo4000 I dont really have the gph to spare, I thought about really doing what was suggested but decided to avoid any loss in gph! I want all I can get.

As far as the om 4 way goes I went to the om froums and asked apul directly, he told me that the sequence really didnt matter. If I go with 1 and 3 as the two top returns my flow would be more parallel and that a top and bottom 1 and 3 would create more of a swirl affect. He is very much an advocate of the rolloing affect flow pattern when you are running a horizontal overlfow. meaning push the top water down the back wall (including return) and the lower retruns push forward and upward.

sweet! you're the man.

I am in the same predicament about how to feed the fuge because I am going to run a slow sump and don't have GPH to spare...but I am totally new to sumps and plumbing. godspeed tigerarmy.

well you might be in luck!!! check out this thread and hit me up if you are interested :)

ok anyhoo, Im back at it with some plumbing and what not :) I have the entire system plumbed but before I can put water in I need to hang the lighting. I visited a few home improvement stores today to get some ideas and Im struggling big time on deciding which route to go.

Last night I hit the ceiling with a studd finder and there is one in the middle of the tank and two on the outside of the tank. They are probably about 6" out on both sides...what do I do?

somebody help!!!

in the mean time I need a drum roll please....ok maybe not but here are the pics of my plumbing ;)

first off some of my mess that my wife nagged me about for a few days

some of you may notice the balck coupler and wonder why? I added the 90 and the union conector wothout putting the threaded part of the union on first so I had to cut into this and then reglue it with a coupler
