My Addiction Continues....

Well I wanted to say thanks to everyone that got something from my 90 gallon as I am breaking it down. I was just about done when I started to have early "Reef Withdraws". I bought a used nano 24 and got it setup today with rock and water. I decided to try something out of the "NORM" with it. I set it up between two windows in my livingroom. I figured why not? It is small enough to scrap daily if needed. I can water change 1/2 of the water with only 10 gallons if needed. I put a HOB CPR skimmer on it that is way over sized, but bet the water will stay clean. I took a little of the money I got and bought a new T5 Corallife Sundial light fixture. Couple of pictures of the rock work and the sun coming in to it.

More to come as it gets calmed down and corals are moved in.

And yes, it took me forever to setup with this inner ear infection....it was like drinking without the liquid. If anyone has ever gotten an inner ear infection you know what I am talking about. :p :p :p

Aren't nano's cool? I just set up my first one (rock and sand only at this point), and I'm really loving it so far!

You are going to really like the sunlight setup...I put my 37 gallon right in a window for over a year and stuff grew really nicely.. nothing beats the direct sun...keep an eye on temperature with the sun and good luck..it should be great!

ps: you could've used that viper you sold for this but I guess you didn't know at the time huh?

yea, but it was a 70 watt. I would have wanted a 150 watt. I wanted to keep the last clam I got. The Light fixture I bought is nice, but if I predict right, I won't be using it much.

Looking good, Robert! You're inspiring me to get a nano to setup in my office if I get the job I'm after. ;)

When are we going to see pics, Jack? We're expecting full documentation. :D

Dude -- I'll try to get some of that done. Pics would be cool to do. I'm crazy busy and am still a bit banged up but I should have some time this weekend. I think I'm just a tank/giszmo freek and get pumped just to set something new up. The coolness of the nano is that it is so easy to set up (less water, less rock, etc). I got some cool pukani (sp?) rock from Ebay that isn't yet aquascaped but is really cool.

I'll try to start a thread about it this weekend.

more pictures with corals....just moving things from the 90 that are left from the sale. I am going to work on put the ATO on it.

Thats a really neat idea using the sun. How long does everything have light?

You know... I'm thinking tanks in glass-enclosed sun rooms. It could seriously cut down on the cost of lighting! :D

Brandon

It is getting about half light in the morning for 2 hours and then from 1 - 5 pm getting a lot from the window on the right side.

More Pictures almost done

More Pictures almost done

Laughing...I say almost done, but we all know we are never done with it.

Got everything out of the 90 gallon and placed in good homes. The pieces not sold went into the 24 gallon. I wish I could take a good picture or have a better camera, but this thing looks better than ever today. The natural sunlight brought back the colors in everything in 4 days. I got the tank ranging from 77 degrees at night to 80 degrees in the day with the sunlight hitting it. I haven't received the new lights yet, but when I do I am thinking of how I can design a canopy that does not interfer with the sunlight during the day.

I did fit a 5 gallon Auto Topoff in the stock JBJ stand and I am going to fix up the tubing to the tank tomorrow. Figure it will last about two or three weeks on that size tank. It is cool that it fit good and out of sight. I will get some picture tomorrow of it.

But here are a couple of picture of how it stand now with all the coral placed. I am going to keep my hand out of it for a long time and see how everything grows out.

And the end of the 90 gallon.....feels sad to see it go. But better things to come in the future.

Well I wanted to say thanks to everyone that got something from my 90 gallon as I am breaking it down. I was just about done when I started to have early "Reef Withdraws".

My yellow polyps, mushrooms and clam are doing well. Thanks! The clam keeps opening and closing frequently. He may be afraid to open fully often, as my tank is active with fish and their shadows going over him a lot. I have heard that my coral beauty angel might be a risk, but I haven't observed any actual nipping so far.

Your nano looks cool!

Thanks

Glad your stuff is doing well. The clam is acting normal. The shadows are exactly what is causing that.

The Nano in sun light looks real good in person then in the pictures. I'm glad you still kept something..... :)
Everything went in my tank pretty good, I see what you mean about the Kole Tang's head, it should heal up pretty quick....Tonight I noticed that I NEED to do a large water change for my freshwater tank as I have not pay much attention to it lately. I put all my focus on my reef tanks over the past few month and completely neglected my poor freshwater tank.....MUST work on it tomorrow.....

Couple of pictures:

Here is the ATO in the Stand. Going to but a couple of parts now.

The new light fixture came in today. It is pretty nice and a little long for the tank. But think it will work well if needed.

Every wonder what corals look like in direct sunlight. I have. Take a look

Lookin' good, Robert! Its really neat seeing the corals in sunlight.

How does that ATO work? Is it actually a sump? I just noticed the switch is toward the bottom of that little acrylic enclosure. :)
