My Anemone ate my clown?!?!?

Is it possible that a Seabae Anemone would eat an Ocellaris? I woke up this morning and my ocellaris is gone, he was fairly small, and I just added him to the tank 3 days ago? there is no way he could of jumped out because of the hood.

Any idea's or ever heard of this before?

Sometimes in the "getting to know you" stage between an anemone and clownfish bad things happen.

any other possible in tank predators? I would say thats kinda rare for a sebae to eat a clown, no ? Are you certain he's not somewhere in the tank that you can see him? If not than he may very well have died. Make sure you check around and behind rocks for a carcass so that you can get it out of there.

I have looked high and low for him, I spent 45 minutes moving rock and coral. He is no where to be found.

If you have a large clean up crew they might have done him in when he died & you would never know.

Thanks for all the reply's! Im sure his remains will turn up soon one way or another. I have scoured the tank and there is nothing so I dont have to worry about causing water issues as of yet, but I will be keeping a close eye on things.

What about in the back of the tank? sometimes they like to jump in the back overflow.

I've lost several fish and never found their bodies. They were healthy and active one day, and the next day ...GONE. I do have an open top, but couldn't find a body. Wondered if they got too close to my Sabae and got eaten, or if my Long Nose Hawkfish ate them, although I never saw him go near any fish at all.
Lost a Pygmy Possum Wrasse and a Orchid Dottyback at the same time.

Since I got my clown I first added a peppermint shrimp, it disappeared in like 3 days. I got a teal damsel to give my clown some company and it disappeared in like 2 days. I have just decided to stop buying fish lol. I think the only other thing I would trust buying is maybe another clown.

Do you have a strong clean up crew, its possible fish die over night and they eat everything before you even know. Watch you nem, if he is eating fish he'll regergitate them. IF u have a sump check the plumbing, fish get lost in pipes sometimes. Watch water parem. watch for ammonia spikes or anything that could be due to death in the tank. How are you acclimating them. Just some things to think about.

I finally found him, he had a crazy white film around him and he was under the nem. Obviously dead. Not sure what the white film was all about?

Im not sure i would call it jelly, just looked like he had a white haze all around him on his body while he was in the water and when I took him out he looked like his regular orange. Not sure what it was but it was strange.

i dont think its brook, they just get like that when they die. had a yellow watchman goby die and found it covered like that but was being eaten by the other fish and clean up crew.
