My anemone is to big can i frag it?

Never frag an anemone. You can, not many people have though. Fragging an anemone basically is causing the specimen major stress causing it to split. By this, if you are lucky, you may end up with 2: mother piece and its clone. If you don't get that lucky, you end up with a dead anemone. I wouldn't recommend doing this.

If you still want to go ahead and do it, try the clown and anemone forum, they may have more information than I do on this topic. I think the 'stressing the anemone' out has to do with cutting the light period down or try moving it or doing other things that they don't like.

can i frag an anomone? its way to big for my tank now. if so how? cut it with a razor blade?
Some anemones are more tolerant to the knife then others, what species are you thinking about "fragging"?

there was a thread on here. Someone cut a big carpet nem, put it back in the tankk too early and it killed all the fish after that i think both halves died.

Bummed out or not, let's keep it family friendly and avoid the profanity censor.

Thanks.

sorry, but i censored it myself

The only species I believe is a good candidate for fragging is the BTA. Can you post a pic of your anemone to get a definitive id?

not the best pic but you can see it on the right

You can frag a bta pretty easily. I have done a couple of bta's and an rbta... Use a sharp razor and make sure you cut through the mouth. Do this in a seperate container and then clean it with fresh saltwater. Then put it in the tank and they will recouperate in about a week or two....

BTA's have a much better track record in the area of fragging than do other anemones. It still isn't fool proof, but it is not that difficult. There is also much less risk to your fish when fragging a BTA, but you should still give it a good rinse before you put it back in your tank.

the fun part will be gettiing it off the rock. when i got it 1 year ago it was only the size of a 5c peice. not its MASSIVE. double the size when its fully open than the pic above. i dont feed it either.
