My AquaPod 24 HQI Thread*

August Update

The Tank is about one month old, and everything went well up untill I went on Vacation. A neighbor responsible for feeding and lights...(i should have a timer) caused a serious tank crash

I lost my Royal Gramma, Flame Angel
my 2 clowns had ick, the tank had a brown sludge on the surface, algae growth out of control, and some brown jelley disease on some of my frogspawn. Various zoas actually browned out.

The clowns were rushed to my LFS, and Hypoed
and i did a 50%WC for 3 days.

My perams began to come into check, and i removed the head of frogspawn that was beginning to rot,

Things are coming back slowly but surely, pics will be added later this week...

That's rough man, sorry to hear it...

I have to disagree with everyone about the foam though. I think it's pretty hideous, and I don't much see the point since it's all behind the rock, just taking up space

wow, its been a while since i've seen my own thread, it seems like i need to post an update. I've been at school, and my AP 24 is a display tank at my LFS. I'll be able to see it inabout 2 weeks, I plan on postin some new pics

I really like the idea of the rock and sand rubble you used in your tank, looks really nice

There is a guy who did a 5.5 nano and used the spray foam as well, he textured his with a wet putty knife, and it looks awsome, better than a regular foam job

I just recieved my AP 12 70w HQI YESTERDAY!! so excited, and i'm pickin up some spray foam today, planning on texturing it, with a sponge, and will be building a thread on that...

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the foam, its non toxic to fish and plants. One of the TOTM's has it on his 375, that looks great, and his tank is thriving, maybe you had a temp spike??

Sorry your tank crashed, but it looked really good before that. Do you have any pictures of your rockwork before you placed any corals? I am about to re-do my rockwork and I really like how yours looked

Umm. Time for some updates

Well, I went to College, Congrats rite, syke na, I'm at OHio University, and Decided to trust my Work, a LFS, with the pleasure of taking care of my tank, while at school, the tank is about 7months old, and seems to be doing well, it gets alot of attention from customers at work, and looks to be doin well, ok well this is what you want to see, enjoy

My corals have since come back, and are growing well, the fuge isdoin great and i have the most intresting 1/2" green crab in it, the frogspawn and hammer took off, from 3 heads to 6purple, 5 to 15!green, and 2 to 6hammer pink, its doin well

I've seen this tank in person and it's pretty badass. The different varieties of euphyllia's colors are just crazy. I need to pop back into the store and get some more specifics for ideas on my BC8 that I'm setting up.

Did you go back and sand/shape the foam after it dried? In the later pics, the texture looks a lot more angular. Where'd you buy the foam?

Brian, right? It's Tony... saw you last week at the store. I'm Chris' friend who just setup the 110 African tank. When are you going to be working again?

Tony

Nope didn't sand or shape anything, but yes it does look alot more angular, i have noticed it, but it has remained unaltered,

yeah good to hear from you Tony, but its brendan, don't worry about it...i work uaually all week, best times to find me is mid day, depending on the tank maintence scheduals..

There are 2 kinds, Handi Foam, which must be orderd, and Touch N' Foam, got it from strosniders in bethesda..

It may or may not be a seasonal item..
