My Aquarium Obsessed Build -System 600 Gallon Total

Looking good! Your tank dimension and choice of equipment is almost similar as mine :)
Keep the pictures coming :)

An old high school and college buddy of mine, Ron, who is also a general contractor help out with the entire move. He went out and purchased a lifting table to move the tank into the house once we got it in that small door and we utilized the table to also set the tank at its final place. Because of the tanks size, front to back, and the external overflow, we did all the moving and lifting with the tanks face down. Lots of cardboard and beach towels protected the front glass.

Here the tank is waiting to be righted and with a little spray bottle with water it slid on the foam quite easily!

To right the tank we moved it out onto the lifting table and used the table to start the roll back onto the tanks bottom. Sorry no pictures we all had our hands full...
Tank set and I couldn't resist putting together the AI leds to see how they looked.

The six modules were for the 6' tank so I'll probably get a couple of more but GeoB , a fellow HVRK member has a PAR meter on order so we'll wait on that before getting more LED modules.
This weekend we will do a water test on both the tank and sump and more work on the sump room. Thanks again to all that helped... couldn't done this without you... Neil

^^someone is trying to get their post count up, LOL

I have the same type of eurobracing on my AO tank and am planning to silicone in some corner reinforcements before I fill it up with water (I realized this after reading asnatlas' thread). I notice they did reinforce your tank with some black material in the rear corners - what is that?

Come on now... Dont hate on the newbies. We were all there once. :rolleye1:

AO builds are very nice tank. Did you go rimless
Don't think they would ever consider rimless on a tank this size!

If you are referring to the triangles on top back of the tank, yes, John (from AO) and I agreed that because of the coast to coast external overflow, additional bracing would be prudent. The internal bracing is nice and if I wasn't going to wrap the top and bottom of the tank with wood may have been an issue. Actually even if I didn't plan on wrapping the top of the tank it would not pose a problem. The tank sits so tall on the stand that the extra bracing can hardly be seen.

I'll be posting updates shortly with pics, of course. The coming Holidays taking up what little spare time I have!

Hi All , Well the holidays have come and gone so I'll update my progress. The interior return loop plumbing is in and i started to rockscape.

My youngest called it pipe city. I added the vortecks as i filled with salt water. Cut or removed the upright pipes or left some for rock support. Since all the live rock i have been purchasing came out of systems that were up and running i cooked, if you will, these pieces for about a month and started adding them to the tank. I really didn't have much choice because i was running out of containers to keep the rock in!

This has been going on since beginning of December. As of this post, all plumbing into and back from the sump room is in. The skimmer and pump are also plumbed and filling the sump with RO/DI as I am typing. Later this morning we will put the sump online... and I'll post more pics as time permits. George has been by quite a bit to lend a hand and much advise. I would not been as far as I am without his help! See YA !!! Neil

ps Thanks George

I had the pleasure of checking Subs tank out first hand last weekend.

What an excellent build!!! Everything has been so well thought out, not a single shortcut.

I absolutely loved the AO build quality, they did a great job. Seeing the Aqua Illuminations LED lights interfaced with the Profilux controller in action was waaay coool. I am now a fan of LED's, his corals were happy and healthy under these LED's, even a few Acropora were growing and had great color.

Keep up the good work!!!

Oh yeah, thanks for the pizza, another memorable treat from this trip. The best pie I ever had.

THANKS

THANKS

TODD, It was great seeing you and Brett again. Thanks for the kudos .The corals I bought from you are all doing great. The sun polyps are especially bright and W I D E open. I'll try to post some pics soon. I got a shot of that large lobe colony in the dark. Expands quite a bit and loves silversides!!! See ya at the Manhattan Swap. Neil

Very interesting build. I'm very excited to see the progression as it comes along. Can't wait to see it filled with life.
