My Australian 950lt SPS tank

My hubby and I are going to Australia for our anniversary next year. Would love to see this tank in person.

Nice collection you got there.

Thank you monti! I spend many hours at the unpacking nights at various LFS's to find nice pieces. Now tank is pretty much full, but I am happy, I have most good SPS we can access here in Australia. Unfortunatly we do not have the large variety of Aquacultured SPS that is available throughout the Americas.
:(

Beautiful acros with nice colors.

Thank you Newbie! :D

Wow all very nice corals and a Hi Fin in there as well. I like it. Lets see the filtration.

Cheers allsps! Next time I take some photos I will take some pics of the filtration systems.
I dont have any flashy bubble king skimmer or anything, Just a large old 2x 65w needlewheel skimmer, a big carbon reactor, daily cleaned filter socks, and a refugium than rather unsuccessfully grows macro algaes lol.

More food for the addiction with those nice looking corals. Thanks for sharing!

 Yes Reefkeeper, this is surely the one hobby that REALLY keeps on giving.

good luck with the moorish idol!
Thanks rpjaws! Moorish idol is fat and healthy, still only on greens though..

In Australia we only have 1 large company mass producing aquacultured frags. This blue Acropora Miliepora is from Oceanarium

So is this

And this is their yellow tipped S.Hystrix. This grows REALLY fast

This is the best Maricultured acro I have ever got. It hasnt lost any color, and IMO looks better now than when it came in...

Beautiful setup, i would be so tempted to collect my own corals if i lived in Australia (atleast the northern part lol)

Im sure a bit of that goes on up north... but the reef is a good hour boat ride offshore!

Really....

WOW... I wonder if someone put it there hoping to get away with it as LR.

Nice catch of the LR.

Nahh over here all our sps shipments are maricultured, and hence the ones that sit in the LFS too long brown out and end up in the LR bin because nobody here buys brown acros :( ... its a gold mine for us resourceful SPS type ;)

This week I have managed to aquire some gear that is normally out of my price range! A good friend had all the gear to set up a really good system, but has decided to part with gear, and leave the hobby for now. Anyway, I have aquired a 10 x 54w ATI powermodule plus 15 ATI tubes, and a TS24 kit! My friend was very generos in offering these items to me at a very cheap price.
Anyway the tunzes are on, the old korallias are out as we speak. Jeez those tunzes move some water, ive had to turn one side down to 80% and the other down to 60% to prevent corals getting blown over in my shallow tank!
Anyway I just need a free moment and a strong friend to help and my DIY/LED will soon be replaced by the ATI powermodule. I love my DIY rig, but the PAR this ATI throws out is insane.

I also got a nice pair of mandarins since my last update, and some nice zoas.

Thanks for looking guys[/QUOTE]

Nice colours and lots of space for the frags growth
Thanks Jacopasqui!

I am so jealous of those colors. my staghorns are big and brown.lol
In my opinion, the key to keeping stags colorful is light and lots of it! also dose some LaCl to keep Po4 in check ;)

Hello Jason,

May I know your lighting details for the frag tank?

Thanks!

Hi Bello, in the frag tank pics, the lights are removed to view the corals, and the illumination in the pic is from a globe over some macro, but frag rack lighting consist of 4 x 24w T5's - all actinic! In my opinion, this produces the best color in the frags, which is what i desire.

Thanks for the reply!

Was wondering how they looked that good with so much yellow

Beautiful tank and beautiful corals
