My BioCube 14

When I setup my 16 Bowfront lots of people asked for pictures, but I ended up having algae issues with some macroalgae that came on some liverock and never ended up getting the tank going in a direction that I wanted to. A few months ago (I think in mid December) I setup a 14 gallon BioCube, and figured I'd post some pictures of it.

System stats are:
14 Gallon BioCube

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5
pH: 8.3
kH: 11
Calcium: 380 (been a while since I tested that)

Live Rock: 64lbs (Including rubble in wet/dry)

No mods other than replacing the bioballs with very small fiji and tonga live rock rubble. Also removed biocube filter cartridge and replaced it with a bag or purigen.

Livestock includes:
Purple Firefish
Yellow Watchman Goby
Yasha Haze Goby & Candy Stripe Pistol Shrimp
Assortment of soft corals

Here is the full tank picture. I can post more pictures of individual specimens if anyone has interest

Very nice.
How often do you do water changes?

I also bought the Bio Cube 14 g and took out the bio balls and gonna make 2nd chamber into a refuge/sump. Already started mounting 18w mini aqualight and hope to have the tank up and running in two weeks. :D can't wait

This is going to sound bad, but I have only done 3 waterchanges since I set the tank up back in early December. There have been no problems though, and everything I have put in there has done quite well other than one black ocellaris clownfish which I believe died from an internal parasite. I credit this lack of a need for maintenance to extremely low feeding combined with very large amount of liverock in comparison with the tank volume which provides excellent filtration, but also abundant live food for the gobies which allows me to feed only once a week and still have healthy growing fishes. I do however wish I had more zoanthid coverage like I would have if I had done a better job of doing frequent regular waterchanges.

It is both very dense rock and it is stacked in very dense fashion. There is also about 15-20lbs of rock underneath the main rockwork structure below the level of the sandbed. I also used a dremmel to make bio ball sized or smaller pieces of rubble for the wet/dry compartment so there is a lot of weight in there too because of how densely packed all the rock is together.
