My Birthday at Sebastian

I went to Sebasitna on my birthday, to collect and also to ahng in Melbourne. I learned something....DOnt go to sebastian, collecting, at high tide.....I was beaten up so badly today from the currents and waves...well, i hurt...everywhere...lol. IDK what it was, i have never experienced currents like that the other times i have went, was that because of the high tide? or something else? either way, i was happy, i got some good stuff (all legal) and had a great birthday. I got a nice gift card to Aquaholics (LFS) and TONS of money (not a giftcard, but might aswell have been...lol) But i wanted to know what the dealio was with those currents today, so that i can avoid them next time i go...

Happy Birthday seth

I caught a spot on the news last night saying that there's a LOT of rip tides going on off of east Florida right now with the way the weather and winds are. They said 700 people were rescued JUST this past weekend alone and I think there were already some injuries and casualities.

They will close the beaches for certain things but deadly rip tides just aren't one of them so be careful if you're planning on going out again! If you get sucked into one I think you go paralell with the current and try to get back to shore only once the current calms down

if you ever watch the boats go in and out of the inlet you can tell the current is always there. you won't see sailboats go out. i used to fish there a night all the time and when you fish off the jetty it can run your line out if you are not careful. when the tides coming in some boats can't power through it. lowtide is the best time to collect anyhow.
