Hey folks I just wanted to show you how cool my rbta is. I just got him on friday from Sharkdude(Chris) at the SCMAS meeting I put him in that night and I notice the next morning it had moved to the back glass. Well That is when I notice it was cut in half. At first I was woried but now I am so excited. Here is a picture of the two RBTA and some of my 20g tank which houses Nicoles misbar clowns. Freaking awsome.

It's not usual for them to split under stress. Last ditch reproduction attempt, I guess! Your clones look like they are doing well, and they will heal before you know it.

Glad to see those babies hanging out together. Maybe they'll take to one of those as a host?

And boy did that BTA undergo stress! Sharkdude dropped it from about 4 ft when he went to open the door at IHOP on Friday night. Good for you though!!!!

Hey now Gcarroll!
I swear Mario, it wasn't that bad of a drop. I mishandled the container when trying to open the door and converse with Greg at the same time.

I imagine the majority of stress came from splitting the live rock it was on with a chisel and hammer. I did this so Mario would not have to find room for a big ol' ugly rock with brown shrooms and brown polyps.

Mario: glad to see you will be recovering your investment soon.
Hope they don't wander too much and sting your nicer corals.

Nice color and bubble tips!

Chris

Nicole, i noticed that too.
my BTA anemone split when i moved it to the frag tank.

Do you guys think that's a good way to try and propagate anemones? Move it to a new tank every couple months or so?

I once read a thread where a guy had a specific water change regimen that induced his rbta's to split. I recall he attributed it to the rise in alk from a water change?

they split in reponse to various stressors it seems. It may not be good to purposely stress a rbta too often so as not to compromise its health.

Mario: I just noticed. you better get some intake guards on your powerheads and hang on filter lest a wandering RBTA becomes soup!

mind tends to split everyother time i change my filter sock, i change it maybe once everyother week or so. so maybe once every month or so.

and my water parameters are not that bad, about 0-20ppm nitrate depending on when i do water changes, 0 phosphates, 8.3 ph, cal at 420ish... haven't tested alk in a while...

carpets doing great. I feed it a piece of shrimp and some times it gets what food falls on it. It has not moved from where I put it at.

Chris I noticed that when I first put it in my tank. It creep realy closes to the intrake on the filter and did loose some tips but still doing great.
