my buddie's 72g BF

Well finally got around to loading up pictures of my buddy Pierre's 72G BF after redoing his rockwork. Just gotta redo his sump then will add more corals in.

Current fish:
snowflake eel
sohal tang
naso tang
yellow tang
green chromis
blue throat trigger
magnificent foxface
fuzzy dwarf lion
GSM
kole tang


Needless to say its maxed out if not overstocked on fish. Has 2x150W DE MH and 2x130W PC Actinics. Currently running a chiller and a Tunze 9010 skimmer on it. Flow provided by two Koralias and a Quiet One 6000 Return pump.

I love the tank. But i do think there are too many tangs. I also love the dwarf Lion.

In the first pic I see a tomini tang, is that what your referencing to a kole? Definitely overstocked and way to many tangs. Is he planning an upgrade? How does everything get along?

Nice tank but way too many tangs in there for a 72. The skimmer will help on the bioload but it has to cramped in there. I hope he plans to upgrade soon.

If the guy did a 40% water change every two weeks he can do it for awhile until ich sets in but I've seen it done.

I counted 5 tangs. Should be one at the most. I would really concetrate on the 175. Or mabey have some one hold on to them if it is going to be awhile until the tank is done. Or just keep really good water quality.

Yea it was a tomini and not a kole tang.

Has about 120-140lbs of tonga/fiji rock in it.

The fish get along really, really well. Tank has been running for a while with no big issues. It has two phosban reactors, one for carbon and one for phosban.

The rock and that tunze are probably the main reasons why the tank does so well.

Dien, there is too much bioload in that tank as you know. How long until the upgrade?

Just looking at the very first picture, it immediately looked too small for the two fish you can readily see. imho.

Lols, even when the upgrade does happen the tank will have the same number of inhabitants.

I need to post a pic of another buddy's 75G one day, his bioload is even bigger...

The larger tank will handle the bioload better than the current one.

Just because someone crams a lot of animals into a tank doesn't make it right. Freshwater seems to tolerate it better than reef dwellers.
