My CBB died last night

I have had the fish for a couple of months and it's been eating great. Everything looked fine when I went to bed and I wake up to my copperband stuck to my vortech MP20. Do you think he just got sucked in while sleeping? He usually sleeps near it but where there is almost no flow. I feel like something must have been wrong with him. I just don't know what.

An otherwise healthy fish shouldnt be sucked against a powerhead. I'd say there's more going on, either inadequate diet leading to depleted strength (even if it did eat well), or some other condition that deteriorated the health of the fish. Sorry to hear about it in any case.

+1, a healthy fish will not get sucked into a powerhead, something else was wrong. CBB are very finicky fish and are a tough fish to keep because of their delicacy. It could have been anything. Sorry for your loss, they are beautiful fish!

Agreed they are very finicky fish... I have had 2 healthy ones, but have purchased at least 5 to get the 2. In my previous tank, my CBB would hand feed. My current tank has a juvenile that is very happy and healthy. Sorry to hear about your loss, they are such awesome fish....

Most butterfly fish are difficult to keep. It's generally not so much about getting them to eat, but feeding them the right things, because we have a rather limited understanding of the proper diet for most of them. So, it very well may not have been anything you did, but as others have stated, they can be very difficult fish to keep long term. If you ever get one again (which I don't suggest), you'll want to feed him a diet with a wide variety of foods to hopefully keep him healthy.

I feed my tank a variety of things but the only stuff he would eat was brine and mysis. i think e may hive picked at the nori once. Good to know that it may not have been my fault. im just angry because i really liked the fish.
