my center pice fish (king of the tank)

It was a positive gram swimblader infection that got the kingi

Very sorry to hear about it Yuri.
I hope, since you are in SA, you'll be able to get another one.

How do you know it was a gram positive infection and did you know before the fish died or found out afterwards?

Hey Yuri, I was sorry to hear this from you... you are the African representative of the angelfish nuts club! Pinch yourself that you live within the small range of this beautiful species that cannot be exported. Success can be had with this fish... our American equivalent, Apolemichthys arcuatus, was once a fish that people had the same issues with. You will get another opportunity for sure... I met a Japanese hobbyist that collected two of these on a trip to Durban and brought them back to Japan... one survived the trip and adapted to his aquarium... you could see it in the book "Angelfishes of the World", yet unfortunately he remained nameless as they were exported illegally. Like our bandit angels, there is a healthy population of these fish at depth, along with most all of the juveniles... out of the reach of divers using standard Scuba.

Good luck in the pursuit of another and keep us in the loop!

Thank you
I will start looking for one soon
The Kingi is the fish I want the most in my tank
The next one I get I will treat with positive and negative gram antibiotics

This one was collected at 40m

I found out afterwards that it was a positive gram infection
A marine biologist from Ushaka aquarium told me that was the problem with the symptoms the Kingi had

With all the respect, if he didnt open the dead fish,he is assuming this was the problem.
Gram positive of course are more rare, you can treat them, but Im not sure how tolerant Kingi are for antibiotics so i would not bomb the next one, when it comes, with broad range antbiotics that will take care of the gram negative + a specific gram positive antibiotic.
