My clarkiis no longer get along?

I got two clarkiis from. An LFS recently. They were at the LFS for 5 months before I bought them. They have always been "together" with other fish but not other clowns. When I bought them they also seemed paired in QT.

Once they got into my DT they both took to my bta immediately. However since the first day the larger "female" has evicted the male. And she won't let him near her or the bta. This was a week ago.

I have seen the male do the submission dance and twitch but no change in her behavior. Will they eventually work it out? The female is maybe half inch larger than the male. They are 2-2.5 inches long. Still juvenile.

They usually work it out... eventually. What you are seeing is not uncommon. The more dominant, possibly female, claims the host first and the other has to wait till girl lets him come over.

It took a month or so for my Akindynos clowns to get along. The female kicked the male out, and didn't want to share the anemone. Even a year later, she still gets the "best" spot in the nem, and he has to be content with the edge :) IMO, Give it some time unless you see some serous aggression.

It could take days or months for the female to relent and allow the male in the nest. I had a gsm pair take 6 months before she totally paired with the male and they slept together.

Getting a bigger anemone could make her more willing to share, or at least let the male have the smaller one.

Though she could try to claim both. :D

like Whip said, it could take 6 months, maybe longer.

I have a couple of BTAs in with my pair of occelaris and they each have their favorite. My girl has the big green one and the boy a smaller red one.
