My Cleaner Wrasse eats flake!
Cleaner Wrasse Primer anyone?
After having my Cleaner Wrasse for ten months, it has begun to eat flake and I am shocked. It has aggressively eaten frozen/enriched mysis and brine shrimp from the getgo. Last week, it began mouthing flake then spitting it out. Yesterday, it began to eat flake, though about half of them it still spits out. I don't know if there is a taste difference between flakes or if this is just part of the process towards him eating all of them.
As I stated in another post, I believe this fish's dificulty lies in trauma due to collection/transportation practices.
I saw mine picking at rock at the LFS and had read about others' success. Mine was very small and I saw another one of similar size last week at the LFS that was ACTIVELY FEEDING. It has grown more than an inch and is now about 2 1/2 inches. It has colored up nicely and is quite round. It provides a useful service in my tank and I could not be more pleased.
I will be searching the web and compiling any positive information here. My goal is to contribute weekly. Please, if you have any positive input, contribute to this thread. If you have negative comments, save them for someone who gives a f*** (bad andy's pre-emptive shoulder check).
I believe this fish will be a staple in HEALTHY reef tanks after more study and the improvement of collection and transportation.
