my clown has a pimple.. or somthing. any ideas please? *stressed*

dann.. i so tried to do that right away. i sucked it up, and squirted all the water on a paper towel... and i never saw it agian. of course im thinking mantis since that would be the worst....

it was less than a half inch long. had the shrimp tail like all shrimp... but i THINK it had a really long claw like arm. the molt was completely clear.. no markings at all.

I do here a click every so often at night, but ive convinced myself over the last 7 months that its a hermit falling off a rock etc.

going to have to get me a red flashlight and stay up i guess

on a better note, i did my water change today and my baby fish is looking even better. im thinking the zits wil be gone by tomorrow

im almost wishing my bta would split... ive cut down on feeding... and it just keeps getting bigger!!!!

alright... burning the burgers better go :D

really long claw like arm

Could be a pistol shrimp? They are often liverock hitchhikers and they make quite a loud clicking with that huge arm, better than a mantis eh?

On another note, man you certainly have an eventful time!! What doesnt happen to you??!!

sounds more like a pistol than a mantis. There aren't any/many mantids that recruit that small. I don't know much about pistols so I don't know if that is an unusual size for them.

Ciarán... haha you have no idea. I have a knack for paying attention to detail.. and I panic more than i should.. so my tank keeps me busy!! lol
You should have seen me 4 months in. wheeee.. dident think the tank would make it. I nearly lost my marbles. im possitive i learned more that week than i did in 4 years of highschool :D

dann.. ok. im going to check out pitures of the pistol shrimps and also ghost shrimp.. no idea why. just heard of them b4, and the molt was so clear i figure why not

still hitchhikers after 8 months?! I was so excited when i discovered my two lil crabs... funny... I was so excited when i killed them 6 months later :P

very cool. looks like i may have a pistol shrimp! Laquaria has a pic of an almost translucent yellow one. the arm i saw and the tail look right on. thanks guys!!

wonder if thats why im missing my second peppermint.... :D

maybe you should find him a nice goby. I'm not sure if all pistols will live with a goby but it's a cool relationship.

gobys jump right? looks live i have to move here real soon, so im not getting anything else... but i finally found a mandrin today that eats frozen food :O I bought a lettece nudibranch instead.. i have these tiny tufts of green hair algea (i think) that im worried about.

i wanted that mandrin so bad though. looks like it had ick or somthing foing on with its fins anyways...

I read that these pistol shrimps will host corals and anemones as well as gobies. Im going to have to find this guy now, it'll bug me :)

Its cool you got the pistol to survive thus far (if in fact that's what it is), they have a shaky reputation for durability. Apparently you can hear a pistol shrimp's claw clicking from the other side of a room! No personal experience on that one.

i def here clicks. but only like 2 clicks.. then maybe once more 2 clicks not all night or anything. and its only at night.

I always wrote it off as clumsy hermits

Ill def keep my eye out for more molts in the future...

Hmm. I think my fish has this pimple you're talking about. I've been worried about it. Is your fish totally cured? I've been worried and watching it slowly grow. What was your exact treatment and from where?

Thanks

funguy... its been around 2 weeks now. since it happened. I started treating him with 'ultracure px' from 'gel-tek' its for treating internal parasites. I got it at my lfs, but have also seen it at petsmart.

It has two active ingredients that cure 2 diff. kinds of internal parasites. praziqual, and metronidazole. its hard finding these meds by themselves.. The directions state that you should not feed at all for 24 hours, then put drops in the tank and they are supposed to eat it. That doesent work.

I soaked food in it for 5 minutes or so before i fed. In about 3 days it started to go away. I was busy/lazy/away for two days, and it started to come back. I continued the treatment and now it seems cleared up. It isent there now, but Im still treating the food once a day for now.

the female never got anything on her.. but she ate the treated food as well. (kinda hard to tell her not to)

the male never acted any different, and still isent. poops still the same.. a lil orange from the medicine (its orange gel) but he seems completely normal.

If it comes back after i stop treatment im going to qt them both and treat for external parasites.... Ill keep u updated. let me know how it go's

you can also get the prazi and metron at http://www.fishyfarmacy.com (i just looked it up to make sure i had it right and it isent working) :( donno why.
