ok when i woke up this morning my female B&W occelaris was gone! i saw her at like 2 A.M. this morning. i took apart the tank to look for her but i can't find her. shes in a biocube so she didn't jump. and i checked all the back compartments. what happened? any ideas? i think she had eggs to! but now she just vanished! please help!

keep checking. She has to be there somewhere...unless the urchin got to her...urchin has probably eaten any eggs...

Hmm - seems odd to me - you double checked all the back compartments with a flashlight right? Did you take everything out of the back compartments?

I'm with Kimsie. It's hard to see what is in those compartments unless you remove everything and look down in there with a bright light. I have a Starry Blenny in quarantine and he got in there and he was difficult to see.

ok found her! i double checked the back compartments and i found her. i don't know how she got in there but she was in the compartment where the skimmer was.

How did you get her out? I use a long wooden spoon to reach down there and slowly guide them back up and over... Can't think of anything better... Just wondered how you did it!

Glad to hear it turned out ok fishkid6692. That would suck to loose her. Especially when she's spawning.

Fishkid, do you know what Craft It is? It's a plastic grid sheet that people use for sewing. You can find it in any craft store or in the craft department at Walmart, etc. Cut a strip of it as long as the tank is wide and deep enough to fit over each compartment at the back of your tank. Make it deep enough to hang over the front edge about an inch. This worked just great with the Starry Blenny who's waiting to go the the DT. I didn't try to attach it or anything; when you close the top it stays in place. The trick is, you just have to be smarter than a fish.

Like EllieSuz says, you need to make some kind of a barrier. I had a pair of B & W occellaris that would take to "chamber diving" in the rear chambers of my biocube. So I went to Lowes and picked up some plastic gutter screen and cut it to fit. It solved the problem! ;)

AGAIN?! LOL - my diamond goby stopped atfer twice - well I should say so far he stopped after twice. I'm the fool as I still haven't covered mine...

I guess I'm scared that if i put something over it - and they jump up there - they'll get stuck above the water? Is everyone assuming that they just will jump up there but then flop off and back into the water?
