im just curious to see. I have a false percula clown and i also have a condylactus anemone, i understand that the clown should go into the anemone, is there a reason that mine does not do this? as a matter of fact it doesnt even go near it.

condy's will not host a clownfish i forget why...i just cant think right now....but i know they dont host any fish...

I've actually seen a clownfish hosting a condy, but I also understand that's very rare. Condys simply don't live the same places as any species of clownfish, so they're not a natural host.

The host anemonies for A. ocelaris in the wild are H. Magnifica (Magnificent anemone), S. gigantea (Giant Carpet Anemone), S. Hadoni (Saddle Carpet Anemone - what you normally see sold), and S. mertensii (Merten's Carpet Anemone - probably won't see this one). In captivity, E. quadricolor (Bulb or Bubble Tip Anemone) also hosts false percs. This is acording to Joyce Wilkerson in her book "Clownfishes".
Realize, though, there is never a guarantee that your clownfish will go to anemone. Some take a long time, while others just never pay it any attention, even if it's an anemone that usually hosts that clown in the wild. I won't even pretend to know why.

clownfish will host whatever they want. you have just as much of a chance for them to host the condy as another anemone or coral. I had a condy for several years that hosted maroon, clarkii, and tomatos. none of the fish seemed to mind.

Maroon, clarkii, and tomatos are a lot less picky about their hosts than are ocellaris and percula clowns. An ocellaris acceptiing a condy as a host would be very rare. Not impossible, but not likely.

I've got a couple of percs and about 6 weeks ago I added an RBTA. So far they're still hosting the back corner of the tank. Grrrrr....*shakes fist at clowns jokingly*
I've read people on this forum who have said that their clowns completely ignored their anemone for months and then one morning *BAM!* clownfish in the anemone.

actually, my maroon clown hosted in my condy for the longest time. she loved the thing. then i got her green bubble tip, and she ended up going btwn the two anemones, and finally just used the GBTA all the time and ignored the condy. yeah, chances are , if it's a tomato or a maroon, it just might host :)
