My community tank idea

I have an idea I'd like to share with everyone. As some of you know I recently started my first tank which is how I found the club. I was really amazed at how great the people are here as well. So anyway today I had a thought about my tank I'd like to share and gather some of your opinions on. I would like to aquire a small piece of something from everyone in the club to add to my tank. It could be anything i.e. a shell,a piece of rubble,snail,frag anything at all that I could say this is from... to all the family and friends who see my tank. Just remember it is only a 29 so it needs to be small. Also if it's a frag I only have 130w pc lights so keep that in mind. I will pay for some of these if they aren't very expensive if you so choose. Just let me know your thoughts on this, I thought it to be a really neat idea.

Dave your already in way more than anyone else will be I'm sure.
You actually started the whole thing.I have the light on it that you gave me and when I get time I am going to put on the skimmer you gave me too! So I'll have alot more skimmer hooch than I do now thanks to you. Thanks again for that btw.

I still have the red mushroom rock to give you ..in fact I will bring it to this months meeting ....
 
Ok this is what I have in my tank now. 20 Lbs of LR a HUGE Gsp, Kenya tree, blue mushroom frag, watermelon zoa frag, ronald mcdonald zoa frag, AOG zoa frag (zoa frags and shroom from Sanford) 3 small turbos,3 HUGE turbos( prob. gonna have to thin these out), 5 blue leg hermits, 3 nassarius snails, 2 damsels (which will be leaving soon) and 1 perc. clown. All the frags are tiny except kenya tree and GSP. Gsp is huge and I fragged it twice so if it gets to crowded to do this I will get rid of the big GSP. I want to thank everyone for letting me do this I think it will be cool and add "meaning" to my tank. If anyone wants to do the same thing I will come up with something too I don't have much yet but I'll come up with something.

Hey Shane, there's no free lunch. Sounds like we have a volunteer to help out BIG TIME for the next frag swap! I nominate Shane for head of the set up / take down / clean up crew committee! Take note Malisa!
 
Jay, I'm not sure where your going with this but I wasn't asking for a "free lunch" or hand outs of any kind if you read back I offered to PAY for anything I recieve. I did not post this as a ploy to get free stuff, I appologize if anyone thought so.I simply thought it would be a cool idea and as far as the frag swap or any other club activity is concerned, I will gladly help out anywhere I'm needed, if I can. Reguardless of what happens with this prjoect idea.

Hey Shane I think it is an awesome idea as well - give me a couple of months to stock my tank and I'm sure I can come up with something.
 
Shane - 20#'s? Sounds like you could use some more, so I'll bring you a chunk of some LR for you F.O.C. (I'll be moving quite a bit in the coming weeks, after my new stand sets-up and dries.)

Shane, you have to know Jay. I think he was saying what he said with tongue in cheek!! I will be glad to bring you a frag of pink colt and pulsing xenia and possibley some pink cabbage leather. However, I will not be able to attend a meeting until August. My son is coming home next weekend. I am unsure if he will be attending the meeting in June, but if he is, I can send it for him to keep in his tank until the meeting. I may also be able to round up a neon green paly or 2 as well.

Darn, I have a wedding to attend in Arkansas. This meeting sounds like a fun Party.
 
I'll see what I can come up with. Many people gave me small frags in the beginning and it really keeps you excited about the hobby. It gives your tank an established look and makes it more fun watching all the corals grow.
 
I am with mako shark II,If you can make the meeting this month, I have a 6 or 7 lb live rock you can have.It is fully cured and ready.

Well my idea has started in motion. Thanks to BJ for the Shroom and Zoo rock and thanks to Dennis for the piece of rock they gave me at the meeting. Remember now it doesn't have to be frags it could be anything that I could put in my tank and say I got this from....... when I show my tank to friends and family. when I get a little more in my tank I would like to offfer a little something to everyone as well to put in yours from me.
