k octi dont need bright light if i remeber correctly....well i was going to set up a 500 gal reef...i bought a used 500 with a broken seal ( so i got it cheap) and i was almost in the clear of not setting it up...i relized how much it would cost....then i came here and saw octopusses.....
now can i keep anything with them like a moray eel, or some sharks????......if i gave the octapusss lots of nooks and crannies?

I'm not a pro in this area, i used to have an octi in a 55 alone, but my LFS has a tank w/ an oct and some sort of shark, and its been there for a while...

octo

octo

Dont think so, because at a documentary that i watched on discovery or national geo. they put a octo near sharks in a public tank and octo ate the sharks, so i dont think so that. even if octo wont eat, shark will eat the octo. But i think you can make your tank a cuttlefish tank. They are much more cool then a octo i think but again they wont be ok near sharks... can be ok with zebra eel and some kind of groupers

I posted a lenghty reply at TRT. Would be glad to help you set up that tank. You can come over to my house and check out my 600 gallon combined system. I have three cuttles in a 150 gallon and an Octo in another 150 gallon and a 220 gallon SPS all combined.

energy...you can most deffinetly do that....whos gunna pay for your ticket to seattle...im moving there in sept and IF i set up this tank you could most deff help

...don't mix octos and sharks. When I bought my first octo I already had a sand shark in there. The next day I turned on the lights to go to work and the shark went right at the octo, was grubbing on a tentacle, the octo shot ink all over and hid. I had to leave to work and was all freaked out. When I finally got home the shark had him cornered but unreachable. They were both pretty big too, both around 8 inches long. Well I liked the octo more so I finally caught the shark, which was boring as hell, never buy a sandshark just to buy a shark, they are the most boring laziest pets i've ever kept. I took him back to a LFS.
