I bought a neon goby from petco over a week ago because he was a super good deal. Amazingly, he is quite healthy! he's fat, active, and disease free! He's the only fish, so I really get to watch his personality. I absolutely love him andall his quirky little mannerisms! I'd like to tell you guys about him. He is,
Friendly: whenever I put my face up to the tank he says hi. He wags his tail(no idea what that means for a fish...but it's way cute!) and then swims up to the front of the glass.
The Protector: as the evening comes around, my galaxea starts to send out long sweeper tentacles. Now, this was a huge concern when I bought it because I didn't want it to sting my corals. well, worry no more! every time a sweeper goes flying out, goby will dart over there and give the green sweeper tip a gentle nip so it retracts to normal length. He won't bother anything within an inch of the colony, so this does not create an issue. He is very consistent though about sending anything longer back to where it belongs.
The Hunter:
feeding time is my favorite. at first, he spastically darts around and gobbles everythingup, but once the food supply gets lower, he goes into hunter mode. he goes to his perch, and actually crouches and waits for a tasty morsel to float by.other tactics include,
the sneak attack; the filter spout comes down slightly below the water level, creating a small ledge. he'll swim up to it, and flip upside down so that he can perch, hanging under it and watch for food. it looks really cool!
stalking; or the pieces that sink, he sits flat on the sandbed and scoots himself forward with his fins to stalk a drifting piece.
Super cute: He's just adorable! and that blue stripe adds a ton of life to my pico
Curious:
For some reason, my nassarius snail fascinates him! every time that nass comes out, he starts stalking him. he also likes to sit on his shell and take a ride.
I'll see if I can catch some pictures of him doing cute stuff.
thanks forreading!
